Hi
Does anyone know how to install Dropbox on Debian 10? I had it installed before on Debian 8 (jessie) but I can`t remember how I installed it and don`t find any way to install it again on my new system. Can someone please perhaps help?
Kind regards | frodaj

Install Dropbox
Re: Install Dropbox
Hi,
Add non-free to /etc/apt/sources.list
# apt update && apt install nautilus-dropbox
Free software alternatives like Nextcloud, can be used, by the way, but that would be another topic.

No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.

Re: Install Dropbox
I just downloaded the deb file from the Dropbox site. Works perfectly.
Just remember that Dropbox now only allow 3 machines to be synced, so you may need to take your old one off the list before you can add the new one.

Re: Install Dropbox
Hi froda:
Note that putting a hashtag # before the entry means it gets disabled so to stop synaptic prompting to insert the DVD, insert a hash tag # before the second entry. No need to remove the entries. You may as well, while you are about it, disable the deb-src entries, which are for downloading debianized source code; more about that at apt-src. After editing & saving the modified file, you should run apt update in the terminal. No doubt you can also disable the deb cdrom entry and src lines in Synaptic too, if you prefer. The modified file should look like this:
The cdrom entries, if left uncommented, i.e., without the # sign, are for users with limited bandwidth who prefer to install software from the installation media rather than from online sources.

Re: Install Dropbox
Synaptic Package Manager --> Settings --> Repositories Under enabled column:
Tick to enable
Untick to disable (including cdrom entries)
You can also highlight and edit the entries below.
However....I don't advise installing any non-free software on Debian, but that's another matter.
