Screen Distortion

#1 Post by Baltus »

Hello,

After installing Debian 10 with MATE (non-free) iso I encountered screen distortion that made the installation unusable. That was about a month ago. A couple of days ago I tried to install MATE again, I miss it from my days of using Linux Mint MATE. Again, I saw a severely distorted screen. I don't have a lot of experience fixing graphical glitches like this one. Clicking on the screen makes the distortion worse.

This problem doesn't occur on Debian 10 with Gnome, Gnome Classic, KDE, or Cinnamon.

I've included a screen shot: https://ibb.co/XVnfbmb

These are my specs:
Debian 10.1 (x86-64)
i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz × 4
AMD Radeon RX Vega 56

Hello,

I should probably have mentioned that my mesa drivers are up to date.

I also want to reiterate that the problem initially occurred a month ago with a clean install on the Debian 10 MATE iso, so I don't think it is the result of any tinkering I have done with Debian since I installed it on my pc.

Fixed by installing mate-tweak
Set HiDPI to Regular
Set Windows manager to Macro (Compton GPU compositor)

You still have not said if you installed the necessary firmware.

Code: Select all

apt policy firmware-amd-graphics
MX Linux packager and developer
