Hi,
Since installing the new Debian Buster I have a problem with it 'shutting down' after an idle period. It wakes up after I click on the keyboard and I can continue where I left off after logging in.
I don't have this issue with the previous versions of Debian.
I use this computer as a desktop and at the same time a LAMP server.
What's the best way to re-configure this computer so I can serve webpages even if the desktop is idle.
This doesn't work: Settings -> Power -> Automatic Suspend: Off
Thanks,
BC

Re: How To Setup Debian Buster as a Server and A Desktop
Energy wise using a desktop as server is not very friendly, in principle the system needs to be on (=costly.... .), not idle to react directly on approach from outside.
Consider a Raspberry Pi and install the server. Cheap, low energy consumption.

I'm running a VPN server on my Raspberry Pi .
Give it a thougth.

https://wiki.debian.org/Suspend
https://wiki.debian.org/Hibernation
This may help and depending on your OEM board and BIOS you may be able to disable hibernate from BIOS.

This seems to work on one of the test desktop (4-5 years old) I'm using. I still have to test this on an AMD Ryzen 3 2200g and a Gigabyte A320M main board.trinidad wrote: https://wiki.debian.org/Suspend <-- this one with the Disable suspend and hibernation section

Hope this works well in the long run.
