Misconfigured mirrors

#1 Post by tjcw »

I have been trying to create some live linux ISOs using the open-infrastructure-system-build package, and I have been running into problems which look as if some of the Debian mirrors are misconfigured,

On my first build attempt, I left the mirror at the default deb.debian.org , and 'lb build' failed with a message giving an IP address and a note that nothing could be downloaded from it; going to the IP address with a web browser got an error about a domain not being configured, so I take it that the IP address was a computer but not a Debian mirror. I didn't make a note of the IP address and I can't currently reproduce the error.

On my next build attempt, I set the mirror to ftp.uk.debian.org . This got an error trying to access https://ftp.uk.debian.org/ ; investigating with firefox gives "Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead", because the https certificate has been issued to 'www.hands.com' rather than 'ftp.uk.debian.org'.

My 3rd build attempt was with http://ftp.uk.debian.org , i.e. running without encryption. This worked.

I also note that accessing https://ftp.debian.org/debian/ gives a security warning because the certificate has been issued to 'www.debian.org' .

Can these be fixed ?

Nobody here is involved with administration of the Debian mirrors, Problems with existing mirrors should be reported at mirrors@debian.org
