What DE and which version - stable or testing - to choose

Hello guys. As a die hard fanboy of Linux and special Debian, i want to install the distro into my new laptop, but i dont know what to choose. So, i ve a lenovo c340 flex with ryzen 3500u. I m gonna use it for university and also gaming. Any thoughts of what to choose?

Use Arch until bullseye goes stable. It'll probably work if you run stable with a backported kernel, firmware & graphics stack though.

EDIT: for the stable release I would recommend the GNOME desktop, it's highly polished.

Why not Debian?

The development branches do not increment their package versions in lockstep (unlike Arch) and so they are more likely to break more often. But go ahead and try sid if you want, I would recommend using btrfs and taking a snapshot before each upgrade.

As I mentioned Debian stable with a selection of backported packages would probably also work, and may be less trouble. But some packages can't be backported (such as xserver-xorg-core) so Arch will always be that bit more shiny.

Buster-backports still doesn't have an updated Mesa or xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu driver. I've recently backported those for Buster-based MX Linux, so if Buster itself has trouble, even if you install firmware-amd-graphics, you could try this respin I did of MX with the updated driver support, in a Live session: https://archive.org/details/mx19x64updated

And if i insist to stick with Debian cause i love it , i want to support it and have into my computer, what do you suggest to do instead?

New computer and Debian stable is asking for trouble. If you can't change Debian, change your hardware.

Why is that Brother? Also can't return the laptop or affording any changes to it, if it's possible, at least for the moment.
