Debian 10 mate 1.20. If you put the pointer on a menu item, and there are to many programs to display on the screen then arrows should display for scrolling. On my computer the scrolling arrows do not display and you cannot scroll the programs. Is that a reported error? Is there a solution?
Can reinstalling solve the problem? If yes how do I uninstall mate because there
are many mate files marked as installed in synaptic package manager? Thank you.

Re: mate cannot scroll programs
Move the mouse pointer to the right hand side of the box and the scroll bar will appear. It's a stupid idea but a lot of the newer themes do this although, in most programs, including Synaptic, you can scroll with the wheel. Most touch pads also support scrolling on the edge, but you usually have to turn this on. Change your theme to one that displays the scroll bar and up/down buttons.
Re: mate cannot scroll programs
It is an error regarding display resolution. Which it seems it not going
to get solved.

Re: mate cannot scroll programs
Hi, please note in the first picture below, the scroll arrows on the MATE menu's doesn't appear at first, but as you can see in the second picture, after using the keyboard's arrows keys to display or to navigate through the menu, the scroll arrows on top & bottom of the menu's appears!
So, I have to do this everytime the scrolling arrows doesn't appear or show on the menu's, I know this is an annoyance but I like MATE very much & I don't mind it so much!
I don't know if this workaround will work for everybody, but at least you should try, please let me know if this worked for you!

Re: mate cannot scroll programs
The screen resolution is likely not the reason. I connected the computer
to a hd display and that did not make the scroll arrows show. Did not
make scrolling work.
hit arrow right then the scroll arrows display. And you can scroll.
But next time the pointer is on the same menu item and you do not
hit arrow right then maybe only the scroll arrow in one
direction will display.

It partly works. It is a bit diffuse. If the pointer is on a menu item and youkeyboard's arrows
hit arrow right then the scroll arrows display. And you can scroll.
