Can't install on native uefi
Is there anyone outhere who can inform me why i cant install the Debian on native uefi? I mean installation proceeds and finishes but when i try to boot i get a black screen with a white line up left. What's this?
Re: Can't install on native uefi
That means the UEFI system can't find any valid boot partition on your drive.
Without more information about your system and how that drive is used, we can't offer anymore assistance.
Furthermore, some computer manufacturers have the UEFI-system hardcoded searching for 'Windows Boot Manager' and refuse to boot if it can't find it. For such a computer, it may not be possible to use Linux on it.

What information exactly you need? The laptop is the c340 14api with 3500u. It came with windows 10 home OEM.Bloom wrote:That means the UEFI system can't find any valid boot partition on your drive.

That's a Levono system with detachable tablet. You need to install the Debian release WITH closed non-free firmware to get this to work. Furthermore, I recommend entering the system UEFI menu and disabling Secure Boot.
Use http://cdimage.debian.org/mirror/cdimag ... rent-live/
or
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unoff ... ve-builds/

Re: Can't install on native uefi
Thank you for responding so quickly. The testing version for some reason can't run on my laptop, while it boots in live, if i try to install either throught calamr or graphic it gives me multiple errors and fails. Right now I'm writing an iso of non free with dd command and i ll try to install it. Do you know of they usb must be in specific format or the dd command format it automatically?Bloom wrote:That's a Levono system with detachable tablet. Re: Can't install on native uefi
Please try the stable version first. I don't recommend using Testing unless you're experienced and know what you're doing.

Of course Brother. The links you sent me. It failed to boot just like gnome. Right now I'm downloading kde stable to check it out, if it also fails, I'm starting to believe that testing has an implement feature for uefi native; or its for newer hardware; Literally don't know.Bloom wrote:Did you try the one with the non-free firmware?

Kde stable also failed in native uefi. I think I'm forced to use testing.Bloom wrote:Did you try the one with the non-free firmware?

Re: Can't install on native uefi
More feedback. Xfce testing while being on live usb working nicely, the same after the first boot if you install it. If you reboot the pc its going crazy with screen tearing etc. I installed cinnamon testing and even after a reboot it seems to work. Let's see.

On either a Live session or a working Cinnamon desktop, can you pleeeeeeeaaaase install inxi and give us the results of "inxi -Fxxz" in the terminal, so we have some idea of what hardware we have to deal with?

Re: Can't install on native uefi
Is the non-free firmware required by your graphics chip installed? The non-free installer does not install it automatically.

EDIT: crap, that's 3rd genration Ryzen. You need a newer kernel & graphics stack as well: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=139003
Or use Arch instead.

Im right now on gnome DE, do you believe i should look for something else? The fans are starting many times thought the use speacially during youtube video, i saw something about gpu acceleration and that its not activated by the box in many distros, is that the problem? So i execute your commands? Sorry for making so many questions but im newbie and i want really to make debian work, im not gonna change it even if it doesnt work at 100% but i wanna support it. Also when i try to update i get this errorHead_on_a_Stick wrote:Is the non-free firmware required by your graphics chip installed? The non-free installer does not install it automatically.

E: The repository 'http://security.debian.org/debian-security bullseye/updates Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.
why is that?

No, I missed the bit where you said you're running bullseye. That should support your hardware as long as the non-free firmware is installed.Kenshin Himura wrote:So i execute your commands?
The development branches are somewhat prone to breakage though, I wouldn't really recommend them for newcomers.
