How to boot from a drive not seen at startup?
I run a linux installation on a USB SSD HDD. One of my machines has USB 3.0 through an add on PCIEx Card, which is not seen through the bios, so I am unable to boot from it. I wonder if there was a way to load grub and the USB driver from some flash drive and then carry on booting from the hard drive attached to the USB 3.0 ports?

AFAICS, GRUB has no native xHCI driver for USB 3 controllers. So unless you use some other boot loader which has a native xHCI driver, the only option I see is to put /boot on a bootable drive. This includes GRUB, the kernel image (vmlinuz-*) and the initramfs (initrd.img-*).
