Cannot upgrade from Debian 10.0 to 10.2 (Repository problem?

#1 Post by mythsic »

Hello.

I've been using Debian 9.0 (jessy) since it released and when 0.1 was released I got it automatically via Synaptic Manager (or sudo apt update & upgrade). However, I upgraded to Debian 10 (buster) a couple of days ago and I must have screwed something up regarding repositories, because no matter how much I do sudo update and upgrade, or click "reload" in Synaptic package Manager I get no new upgrades at all...

Here's a screenshot of my repositories.

Please keep in mind I am still a Rookie and not really tech savvy (although I can manage most of the time).

Thanks in advance.

Why have you used a PPA to install steam? It's in the Debian repositories.

Anyway, the stable repositories don't recieve many updates, usually only security fixes.

Can we see

Code: Select all

apt policy
And also the full output of

Code: Select all

# apt update
Please use code tags when posting terminal output, thanks.

I was testing stuff (in my kernel version steam doesn't connect to the internet, so i tried seeing if it made a difference to dload it off the site)

About the repositories: Shouldn't it be getting the updates for version 10.2?

Thank you for your reply

Looks like you're already on 10.2, confirm with

Code: Select all

cat /etc/debian_version

Oh yes, yes I am.

Code: Select all

10.2
All this time I was checking with

Code: Select all

 neofetch
and it says 10 (whereas before upgrading I got 9.11)

and command

Code: Select all

hostnamectl
outputs this

Code: Select all

 Static hostname: home
         Icon name: computer-desktop
           Chassis: desktop
        Machine ID: d94b2b9f6415421eb4481b28bfaed962
           Boot ID: 0b01ebd20c9146efb0b1d10a791b9e08
Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
            Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-6-amd64
      Architecture: x86-64

So I take it neofetch and hostnameccl suffer from a display bug?

Thank you for your help ! :)

Both neofetch & hostnamectl derive their information from /etc/os-release

I could PR Dylan to correct neofetch but I think he's busy with KISS atm :)
