There is no Debian 11 yet, we're only up to 10.

The current issue of Python is 2.17.16-1 which was issued last year.

debian 11 is under developent and testing at the moment. But january 1 2000 was end of life on python 2.7 yet the developers have not removed it from the testing builds. Fedora susie both have removed it. I was hoping debian would.

Ask on the mailing lists, the Debian developers don't visit here.

on debian 10 they upgraded the python a tiny bit so it not expired for a few months. I hope they means they are working on it.

Debian 10.2 seems to be on python 3 now but if you use gnome but some other desktops will make python 2.7 take over. its a real pain now with both fighting to control the machine. I wish they just take 2 out of the repository and force people to manualy install it if they need it. I wanted to get my machine all to 3 but installnig 1 app that needed 2 accidently and it was over.

What on Earth are you talking about? :?

Python 2 and Python 3 are co-installable in Debian buster:

Code: Select all

empty@E485:~ $ apt policy python{2,3}
python2:
  Installed: 2.7.16-1
  Candidate: 2.7.16-1
  Version table:
 *** 2.7.16-1 500
        500 https://cdn-aws.deb.debian.org/debian buster/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
python3:
  Installed: 3.7.3-1
  Candidate: 3.7.3-1
  Version table:
 *** 3.7.3-1 500
