MPV 0.29~obs2 picks lower resolution streams

Hi,

I installed mp 0.29.1-1~obs2 (from steve repos) and doesnt pick HD some streams with smplayer (It picks a lower resolurion stream), and even pick lower resolutions for not hd

Debian 9
mpv 0.29.1-1~obs2
smplayer 18.5.0

Sorry, It do picks 720p but only with youtube videos, not other sources

example that doesnt work:

Perhaps, It has to be with
/etc/mpv/encoding-profiles.conf (new mpv version updated this file)

and should restore previous version

Since mpv uses youtube-dl to get the streams, what version of that do you have installed?

Are you using generally a Stretch base, based on the version of ffmpeg I see?

I have installed your mpv0,28(ffmpeg libraries), and now installed mpv0.29 above

youtube-dl --version
2020.01.24


I have now both versions together installed (0,28 and 0,29) using same youtube-dl, and keep doing that different behavior..
for using both together i just decompress 0,28 and copied it to share folder and It just works, as updating to mpv 0,29 keep libavcodec57..

I figured it out av1 (libaom0_1.0.0-3~mx17+1_amd64) was the codec youtube was asking to mpv028 for opening some vids.

AOMedia Video 1 (AV1) is an open and royalty free video encoding format
optimized for the Internet and the successor of VP9. aom is the
reference encoder and decoder implementation published by the Alliance
for Open Media.

- will it work with mpv028?

An some few more easy questions for you.. still dont know
- what codecs is using kodi?, is it using libavcodec5X?.. And if So, installing mpv029, will make kodi use libavcodec58 insteed libavcodec57?

p.d. the issue with the opening resolution stream, doesnt annoy me very much as I can use mpv028 for now.
