Hello, Lately the ALT+SHIFT key shortcut stopped from switching between the two languages which I have installed on my Debian system. Can anybody help?

Thanks for the helpful responses. I discovered that conflicting setting in the system regional settings and the IBUS package caused the problem.
I have uninstalled IBUS, logged out and re logged in and the problem was resolved.
