Yes I added that env. variable. The 00opencl.conf file didn't exist btw so I created it.

Again, those mesa open ICD packages are built as part of Mesa, and Debian hasn't backported them yet. AFAIK, MX 19 has the only Buster-based backports, and they also required some other updates in order to build. The most notable one is the llvm-9.0 toolchain, which takes me hours and hours to build on even a fairly powerful gaming laptop. Mesa 19.3.3 takes only a few minutes in comparison.

Our backported Mesas don't require a newer gcc or libc6--that's the beauty of backporting things the right way.
