Freeze after suspend, but not lightdm

Dear all,
I have a strange problem and I am not able to find a similar problem in other threads.

I have Lenovo Aio with AMD CPU and so AMD GPU. No problem if I use Lightdm (Debian buster). But if I try other lighter WM, tty7 freezes after suspend.

I tried openbox, fluxbox, dwm, i3, englightning.. always the same. After suspend (systemctl suspend), the desktop are frozen. But.. if I give some commands (as twice return in xterm or Fn+Enter in i3) nothing happens. I switch to tty1 and I switch to tty7 again.. I see the output of my commands, but frozen yet. I can also go to tty1 and kill the wm process. It seems just a problem of what I see in the monitor, because the software is running well, I also checked by connecting via SSH from other machine.

I do not see any error messages. I tried to install again all the AMD GPU firmware and driver, xinit, xorg, but it doesn't work. It seems that lightdm only can work.

Any ideas?

Hmm, I don't know, seems to me the logical thing is to use lightdm since it is the only one that works.

@OP: how are you "trying" openbox and the other window managers? What are you doing to make them start, exactly?

I know from personal experience that openbox works just fine in Debian buster without LightDM, you can see this for yourself by downloading the live ISO image from my website link.

Sorry, yes, I confused window/display manager.
If I use Gnome it works. To switch to other WM, I suspend lightdm (service lightdm stop) or I log out and I choose the WM with the mouse in the login window (openbox, i3, fluxbox), I can log in, I use the computer.. if I suspend, when it wakes up it is frozen... not very frozen, just the display, because if I clic C-A-F1 and clic C-A-F7 again I see that the commands worked.

I know that I can use Gnome and it's ok, but I prefer tiled WM and in order to have a faster PC I would like to use i3 or openbox.

Well, really I don't know. I have Xwayland in my /bin but I don't know if it is active. Sorry.

Yes, I checked x.org log file, no error or warning. I do not check systemd journal. Could you suggest me how to do that?

Easiest way to check if Wayland is running is by using the plain 'xrandr' command, this is from my sway desktop:

Ok, so I think wayland is not active. $WAYLAND_DISPLAY is null and here the output of xrandr

What can I try? I also tried to launch i3 by tty1 without stopping tty7, but same effect: after suspension.. frozen.

IMPORTANT: I tried to use openbox for 5 minutes and it hanged in the same way also without suspension. It's very strange.. I would like to use lighter WM, but only the heavier works (i.e. gnome)!
