Re: firefox esr update
I think buster now updates automatically for that package: https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/ ... d-upgrades
Not sure if the unattended-upgrades package is supplied for desktops other than GNOME though.

Re: firefox esr update
Firefox-esr gets updated through normal updates. You need to do the updates manually for everything, but any pending updates to Firefox are done along with the other updates. Unattended-upgrades, if installed, should bring in firefox along with everything else.
Take my advice, I'm not using it.

Re: firefox esr update
Firefox on Debian won't update itself automatically, nor will it notify you that it needs to be updated.

Re: firefox esr update
Firefox 78.3 arrived in Buster today. A normal update/upgrade will get it.
Take my advice, I'm not using it.

Re: firefox esr update
There is no other firefox in Debian other than esr. But yes, firefox-esr 78-3 is now current in Buster.
Take my advice, I'm not using it.

The -esr is implicit in the thread's subject.anticapitalista wrote:You mean firefox-esr 78.3 arrived in Buster today.

Re: firefox esr update
I wonder if the Sid version can now be backported on Buster, since cargo and rust were updated last weekend with 10.6. I'll look at its debian/control file.

Re: firefox esr update
It appears that they're already the same. Both Sid and Buster have Firefox-esr 78.3. Unless Sid had an update this morning, I haven't checked yet.
Edit: Almost the same, just a minor difference.

Re: firefox esr update
I meant the Sid Firefox 81 that anti referenced just above my post.
I took a look, and Buster's new rustc falls just a little short at 1.41, when FF 81 needs 1.43 to build. Buster's cargo 0.43 is OK, though.
