no updates for 32-bit (Debian 9)?

#1 Post by jeepster »

I had burned a DVD for Debian 9 32-bit about 2 years ago. I just installed it to check a software bug related to 32-64 bits. Whenever I install some linux distro, I get updates before doing anything else.
But apt update reads package lists and tells me that
All packages are up to date.
So was 32-bit version frozen upon release?

No. I still get updates for Debian 9/stretch i386.
The Debian installer downloads available updates as part of the installation process, so the system is up-to-date right after the installation.

Just to add, the current version of 9 (as of today) is 9.13, which is the final release back in July.

You can check this by running:

Code: Select all

$ cat /etc/debian_version
There is only one Debian | Do not break Debian | Stability and Debian | Backports

Note that Debian stretch is now only supported by the LTS team.
