Crucial_CT240M500SSD1 MU05 setup

#1 Post by bennyhillthebest »

Hello,
i am trying to set up my new (old) SSD on Debian amd64. I've seen on https://wiki.debian.org/SSDOptimization that my SSD is on the kernel blacklist because it can't properly handle queued TRIM commands. So i would like to know: do i have to do something else for trimming? Do i simply run fstrim while the pc is idle every once in a while (maybe a span of a couple of months)? Do i do nothing?

Thanks for the help, much appreciated!

If only non-queued TRIM is supported, it is not recommended to enable online discard with the "discard" mount option for filesystems.
One may enable batch discard with fstrim at idle time once in a while. One may also discard swap once at swapon with the "discard=once" option in fstab.
