Slow download speed [SOLVED]

Postby Walkablenormal » 2015-06-30 15:44

Hi!

My network card (Ralink RT 5390) acts really wierd and does not preform up to speed. My network speed is 1.1MBps and on Windows i get the full 1.1. But when using Debian on my laptop it only gets to about 350KB. I dont know what to do and it is really getting on my nerves.

Here is some information about my laptop:

LSPCI network controller: Network controller: Ralink corp. RT5390 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe

Lsmod | grep rt2 output:
Code: Select all
rt2800pci              13049  0
rt2800mmio             13390  1 rt2800pci
rt2800lib              81131  2 rt2800pci,rt2800mmio
rt2x00pci              12520  1 rt2800pci
rt2x00mmio             12601  2 rt2800pci,rt2800mmio
rt2x00lib              42331  5 rt2x00pci,rt2800lib,rt2800pci,rt2800mmio,rt2x00mmio
eeprom_93cx6           12625  1 rt2800pci
mac80211              474277  3 rt2x00lib,rt2x00pci,rt2800lib
cfg80211              405538  2 mac80211,rt2x00lib
crc_ccitt              12347  1 rt2800lib

I hope you guys can help me!

Thanks!

EDIT: There is nothing wrong with the signal connection

You could try switching to software-based encryption by creating a file at /etc/modprobe.d/rt.conf with this content:
Code: Select all
options rt2800pci nohwcrypt=1

Reboot to effect this change; delete the file & reboot to reverse the change.
