Hello everyone. I just install Debian on my ASUS F8 laptop. I chose KDE as my GUI and everything went fine during installation. But upon rebooting I get a Tan blank screen when KDE tries to launch. I can boot to the shell and issue commands fine but when i try to lunch my GUI i get a blank tan screen. The video card in my laptop is ATI 3650HD. I presume this is an issue with the display adapter but am unsure how to resolve this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Are you using 5.0/Lenny? If so, you need fglrx. Append 'non-free' to your main and security repo lines, thenYou should now have full use of your video card.
Code: Select all
apt-get update
apt-get install m-a fglrx-kernel-src fglrx-driver fglrx-glx fglrx-control m-a
m-a prepare
m-a a-i fglrx
aticonfig --initial
Code: Select all
nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Ok i installed module-assistant.izar wrote:Try: "apt-get install module-assitant" instead of "apt-get install m-a"
Once module assitant is installed do as biotube suggested.
Then ran
Code: Select all
apt-get install module-assistant fglrx-driver fglrx-kernel-src
UPDATE
I edited my repos and was able to install fglrx-kernel-src i believe but i can not run the last command
Code: Select all
aticonfig --initial
