Re: kde4.4
Not even a progress update? :( You have it, from yesterday. My whole blogpost is a progress update! 4.4.0 won't be uploaded, next target is 4.4.1 and it is being released 2nd of March. This does not mean you will have packages that day. I do not understand the obssesion with dates, everybody asking...

I do not have that information because nobody has that information. Read the full post and you might understand why.

Re: KDE4 on Lenny: a solution might have been found
Once Squeeze goes stable I'll wipe the HD and load it clean. That's what I do anyway. I'm not big on updates. Don't be speechless. . I guess you do not care about your user data? Email, kopete kontact, made wallpapers, kwallet passwords....? Even if you keep your $HOME directory you are risking to ...

Re: KDE4 on Lenny: a solution might have been found
At the person who started this thread. If you want to use Lenny because it is stable then you have also the stable KDE 3.5 there. If you really want to use KDE 4.x and keep a more or less stable system with the occasional and unavoidable problem when you are using a SO in continued development, you ...

Keep in mind those backports are not official or supported in any case, so you might ran in serious problems when going back to the official packages.

Re: http://news.debian.net
Hi! it would be nice to have some actual prose discussing the impact of things rather than just raw lists of facts. Thanks for the comment, but it is done in this way on purpose. Most of the stuff has not too much to comment, and I try mostly to inform about what is going on, if reader wants to know...

http://news.debian.net
Hiya! Some of you might know http://news.debian.net that I lauched like 3-4 months ago. Since then, I have got some feedback from a Debian developer POV about what they expect, but nothing from an user perspective. I pretend it to be "Updates on the Debian project" and this includes both c...

Re: I've uninstalled a lot of packages by aptitude, please help!
Why you do not reinstall all the packages that have been removed?
We could help you better if you paste the whole update log and if you tell exactly what you can not do...
Btw, you can just ssh from the command line, no need to use putty.

Re: nubuilder package
Actually, what he wants is requesting it to be packaged. You should file a RFP, read more at http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/ Well it is already a .deb but I have no idea if it's been done properly or not. Of course you as a DD you most likely know better than I. :) pengo123 does not seem interest...

Re: Registration oddity
This must be a new feature implemented after the crash. I never had to answer that question. I probably am not smart enough to be a member. The feature is a few weeks old. It is not about being smart, it is just trying a couple of times to get it right, you get the answer after you fail the first t...

Re: Registration oddity
Hi there. I just registered for this forum, and there's a curious feature on the registration form. One of the questions told me to pick the middle number from this sequence: 0 1 2 3 4 5. I would expect computer people of all people to realize there is no middle number. Of course I answered 2.5, bu...

The admins can delete the thread altogether. Why on earth do they keep dead threads in the administrative parts of the forum? So, gnudude and Jackiebrown you can remove my posts... :P SpamHunters only can split and move topics to a hidden folder. They can not delete anything and they are not modera...

Re: Welcome SpamHunters!
For clarification: use the button or use the thread? Use the button. SpamHunters can see and close the reports. The thread is good for only 1-2 person, but when it is more people, the reporting system is better. And is it not going to be annoying if, like 10 people, press the button at the same tim...
