Could you create a Live USB of the current MX 21 AHS release, and see what happens in a live session? (that's the default boot of the USB)

Re: AMD gpu driver problem
I appreciate the time, stevepusser The card displays in a gui environment but hangs on boot in that I need to alt-f2 and login, then startx. It looks like those in that link you provided arrived at the same conclusion, as an intermediary step, at least, for your distro. Blank screen on boot if insta...

Re: AMD gpu driver problem
I'm running amd. Regardless, no-go. I attempted non-free testing and the non-free packages but it still wouldn't recognize the video card. I might try sid but I think if the .18 kernel didn't work then sid probably won't either. So.. back to my original inquiry, did anyone try GFoxPM 's hack? Or I c...

Re: AMD gpu driver problem
Yes, I installed non-free. I had firmware-amd-graphics installed did not install amd64-microcode. https://wiki.debian.org/AtiHowTo didn't seem to mention that. So, I installed that, no-go. I then installed 5.18 kernel and it just sits there with a blinking cursor on bootup. I've yet to look in journ...

Re: AMD gpu driver problem
I did a quick install of 11.5 and it's a no-go. I'll do a backport for kernel 5.18.16 assuming nothing crazy will happen as a result and see how it goes.

Re: AMD gpu driver problem
Anyone had success with @GFoxPM's solution? Asking before attempting, will attempt if I don't hear back in a day or so. Against my better judgment, I bought a (really new for me) new video card. Probably good time to upgrade to Bullseye anyway.

Re: Looking for a fast PCIe or USB network adapter
Quick update. The 8260 Intel PCIe with the added antenna worked for me. I'm happy with it. I'm getting 50 down and 100 up on a 200/200 connection. Could it be better? Yeah, I guess, but it's light years faster than my b/g 150 mbps usb device. The links I posted above are what I got if anyone is inte...

Re: Looking for a fast PCIe or USB network adapter
It really didn't sound right to me. I done some more digging and am pretty confident it will work no matter what mainboard - "pcie is pcie". Anyway, I have a PCIe 7260 coming and it should do at least 300mbps. I'll keep you posted on results. Here is what I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/p...

Something like the 8265 here? https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/20E04107-5FBC-4A32-9F95-EAB2EC1A973C?ingress=2&visitId=00b03c31-545e-4260-a6b3-7bc84f50983c&ref_=ast_bln The AX ones on that page would need a newer kernel and firmware package from buster-backports--the 8265 should be fine wi...

Re: Looking for a fast PCIe or USB network adapter
@ticojohn I'm using a TL-WN722N right now and it's not fast enough for me.
@stevepusser I'd be open to an Intel PCIe adapter. Do you have something in mind meets what I posted above?
Thanks,

Looking for a fast PCIe or USB network adapter
OS: Debian Buster amd64 I need a chipset that works right out of the box. Following conditions / notes: * Package for chipset must exist in Debian's repos. I don't care if it's non-free at this point. Github drivers just don't work. (See Archer 4U comment below) * Wireless of course * Faster than 15...

Re: Internet speed test
I would like to know if my internet speed is at 10Mbps for whole day or not? I want to keep at least one month history You will need to do a download several times a day and then monitor the throughput. A cron job comes to mind? Try this. Setup a cron job to wget a 1 mb file every hour in conjuncti...

Application Virtualization for Linux
Looking into application virtualization for Windows platform for users at work. I thought I'd investigate it on LInux as well! Anyone out there already using app virtualization? If so, what are you using and how's it working out? I'm looking at portablelinuxapps.org initially.

Re: Do you consider Debian or GNU/Linux dependable for busin
I have Debian internet kiosks set up with a Debian LTSP backend that works fine on old hardware (couldn't get the video working on WYSE though). I also have three other Debian production servers that I've never had to touch since I brought them online. They just work. I would say that Debian is defi...
