Re: Please get a handle on the spammers!
For what it's worth, we stopped getting spam after installing the Sortables CAPTCHA (though it defaulting to a different language than the board makes questions a bit more annoying to add than they should be). I'm not claiming it's the final solution to the spambot question, but using the default CA...

Re: New cool things in Squeeze, what is your favorite?
Last I checked, the BSDs were all behind the curve when it comes to hardware support(for example, KMS still hasn't been ported). Taken as a whole, they're more conservative and tend to be more stable than Linux.

Re: Missing Shared Libs
Can't I run a 32bit program on a 64bit system? Isn't that what the i32_lib package is for? My point is that the files in /usr/lib are 64-bit, so they can't be used by 32-bit programs. CUPS is just a program, so it should just be a matter of getting the environemnt it runs in set up properly... Ther...

Re: Missing Shared Libs
The thirty-two bit libraries live in /lib32 and /usr/lib32; the sixty-four bit versions won't do your driver any good.

Yes, it's a kernel option; I build my driver into the kernel, so I wouldn't know how leaving it modularized affects the logo.

Re: Radeon Driver
I don't think there's a Debian repository with an updated Mesa(you'll want version 7.9 or greater).

It's possible to upgrade an ext3 filesystem to ext4, but I'm pretty sure your inodes need to be at least 256 byte.

Re: Kernel message at startup
As I mentioned, it's possible that the module's being loaded from the initrd, which means your blacklist isn't processed until after it's already happened.

Re: Kernel message at startup
Have you rebuilt your initrd? If not, then it's probably being loaded before / is mounted.
