Did you notice there's a new version of transmission that goes with Bookworm?

Re: Debian 12 works efficiently with older desktop computers.
My video server was a Intel DX4 100 which ran great with little ram. I upgraded for 64 bit, otherwise I may still be using that motherboard.

Have you scoured nVidia? I don't have a video card per se but they used to provide the source code that you would then compile to match your system.

Re: [Resolved] Bookworm Debacle
I should of said my server is headless, it doesn't have a gui. But we got her figured out, since the network was now working I did a dist-upgrade which got rid of the other sysV packages and added the remaining SystemD packages. I'm just wondering why that package was on hold, it was a target I coul...

Re: [Software] Bookworm Debacle
What a fricken day, I got her done except now it says I have a broken package. But the command I needed happen to be in my notes going back to wheezy. dpkg --force all --remove I couldn't get systemd to install. It kept saying it would break sysv. It wouldn't let me uninstall sysv because it was cri...

Re: [Software] Bookworm Debacle
Do you have access to a live Linux USB? I'm sure I can find it off google, what do I do from there... I got to thinking about the old days when you could use a CD as your repository. What would I download onto a USB drive and what would I add to my source.list to make the USB drive the repository?

[Solved] [Software] Bookworm Debacle
Having trouble with my upgrade from buster to bookworm. I followed the instructions and had my machine working fine on bookworm, except, when I would run “aptitude update” it kept saying there was a package being held back. I can’t recall the name but I think it began with rc****. Anyway, having nev...

Re: Cron Job Help
Also, anyway to test this command to see if it's working? If you have a functioning mta, or mail transport agent, and the alias for user to get the cron result mail, then /var/mail/user will contain the results of every cron job. I use sylpheed to see that mail. From: root@domain (Cron Daemon) To: ...

Turns out, these commands need to run as root after first mounting the drive RW. How does this look? # Re-index Guide Database 0 9 * * 0,1,2,4 root /bin/mount -o remount,rw / && root /tvbin/dbgc-mcp -fg-gc && root /tvbin/dbgc-mcp -fg-index && root /bin/mount -o remount,ro /; ...

Re: Routers ipv6 Address
I guess in your case ("I want to assign devices addresses so I know who they are") the best would be to configure your router to give ULA addresses to each device. Mine (fritzbox 7530) does that, so I can use the fd00:: addresses to filter stuff (parallel to the IPv4 192.168.178.xxx/24 in...

Re: Routers ipv6 Address
I don't understand what your problem is. You want to know (one of) the IPv6 addresses of your router, and you have figured out that it's 2601:280:c600:bd::1, which is a "full address" by any meaningful definition of "full address". So what's your question again? And you should n...

Re: Safely remove old kernels
These were the instructions I got from here some years ago. It's good to be able to pass them along.
Code: Select all
uname -mrs = current kernel
dpkg --list | egrep -i --color 'linux-image|linux-headers'
aptitude purge linux-image-5.10.0-{18,19,20}-amd64
update-grub
reboot

Re: Routers ipv6 Address
Reading "man interfaces" it says to use the below command, but as usual it doesn't tell you how to write the command in the file or on the command line. I wish those manuals would give examples of using it in real life so you have some idea how to go about it. dhcp int Use stateless DHCPv6...

Re: Routers ipv6 Address
Thanks, I did that and it gave me 2601:280:c600:bd::1
What I don't know is how to convert that to the full address since that's the same prefix my other devices have???

Routers ipv6 Address
I am using systemctl enable systemd-networkd
How do I find the ipv6 address of my router?
All I can find is this address fe80:3fff:fe35:6db0
but I'd like to put the actual address if I can find it
Also, Is this the proper way to do ipv6 DHCP?
DHCP=ipv6
