And people here think I'm a failure of a troll...Debian is however, notoriously slow in its development while Ubuntu works on a rapid bi-yearly development cycle. So it is starting to seem to me that the Ubuntu folk have been more responsible for the Debian updates than the Debian developers are.

I am starting to get sick of Google. They think that they "own" the internet dammit! "Install Google Chrome/Use Google Apps/Andriod/etc." Their search engine has been getting worse and worse (their applications are even worse). Bad enough that I now use Yandex as my search engine...

hitting ctrl-c should automatically kill most processes, including boot-time daemons. Be careful, though. I once did that while my disk was getting fscked and destroyed most of the data .
