Ah, I reset a group ownership to the wrong user when doing the final rsync of the avatars. This requires root to solve, and I'm not going to become root right now, that's for tonight.

Thanks for noticing,

Hm, I really thought I tested it. Anyway, it worked during the test drive of the new server, apparantly I made some mistake with the final move... Let's see.

Re: Invalid Session. Please resubmit the form

If anyone experiences the same, please respond. As long as there is only one report about this (and there are about 40 posts daily), I'm going to assume it's something on jongi's side (is your internet connection/firewall okay?)

Periodic account cleanup

Hi there, There are currently thousands of inactive and never used (or worse, only used by spammers) accounts in the forums. I'd like to do something about this. A rough idea is the following: - Accounts that have not seen any succesful login attempt ever, are removed in 24h (typically the email add...

Why just not to block the IP address like on the most forums is being done? It's the same guy somewhere from Russia. They are not very well technically equipped there. Well... I think they (the russians, or whoever they are) show that they are... Either they have found some yet unknown vulnerabilit...

After the upgrade to the new forum software version, the old captcha (which is much harder than the default phpbb2 one) was broken, so I replaced it by the default one... I'm afraid the default one is too easy for spammers, so I'll look into resurrecting the difficult captcha again.

People often forget passwords, and it can be useful for those people... You can see that the whole site is on http://, not https://, so the password is sent unencrypted over the net every time you login anyway, not much to do about that. Indeed, passwords are stored with a one-way hash in the databa...

Sounds like http://bugs.debian.org/430064 ?

If not, please file a bug yourself, using 'reportbug', and report the exact version that it didn't and did work with and what your configuration was.

Well, then the ray dhcp server should not hand out leases to non-ray machines, and similarly, the additional dhcp server should not provide leases to the ray clients. I don't know how the ray clients can be identified, but I'm assuming there's some way to make this happen. The whole point of DHCP is...

In /etc/dhclient.conf you can 'reject' getting certain IP's. See "man dhclient.conf". There's no other configurable way though, and this is a hack -- if you control the network, you should really ensure that if there's more than one dhcp server, that they cooperate. Using some metric, the ...

Hi mystified, 1) You don't *need* the k7 kernel, but installing it, will be better for the performance of your system -- although you might not notice it, because performance is often also dependent on other things like amount of memory, and how fast disks you have. 2) For removing the kernels, you ...

I'm all for adding such field (and also a field where one can optionally list one's real name), but that'd require a change to the database layout... not that I can't do that (I can), but it'd mean one additional change to the software compared to what's in the official package. Every such change, e...
