Re: Parsing JSON file with json-c library segfault

This error is fixed. I was mistakenly double using the same function to get the int value from the JSON array.

Parsing JSON file with json-c library segfault

Hello. I have cloned and compiled json-c library from github and tried to start parsing a json file but I'm stuck at the very beginning when I started experimenting some examples and I can't (pretty much) follow the docs. I have a json file with the following format: { "itemA":[ { "ke...

Re: Two debian accounts and sound gets disabled in one of th

I even forgot about this problem when I got new things to tackle. But I'm back to this and now it's my account that is lacking the sound device. My daughter today came to the laptop before me, so seems that her account took control over the sound device an now, it's my account that is with no sound....

scrape some info from XML file with Python

Hello. I want to scrape some infom from a XML file. I'm trying to use ElementTree module and XPath but I'm not being able to find a way of keeping track of some corresponding elements inside the XML file. The tree inside the SML file is everything but logical. I don't want to paste here the XML file...

I ran both commands after logging in into my daughter's account with: su my_daughter_username No, that won't work. Log out of your user completely then log into your daughter's user from the display manager (or from the TTY). Sorry for the delay. I didn't answer sooner because I was copying a folde...

You suggested to run those commands as [...] my daughter's login [...] ^ This. XDG_RUNTIME_DIR (/run/user/1000) is not owned by us (uid 1001), but by uid 1000! ^ There's the problem. Have you forced XDG_RUNTIME_DIR somewhere? Not that I know of. Run this command as your daughter's user: grep -R XDG...

Re: Two debian accounts and sound gets disabled in one of th

No, you shouldn't need to add the user to the audio group. Check the output of these commands before and after the sound loss: pactl list short amixer Also check ~/.xsession-errors and the systemd journal for any clues. Sound just gone off again at my daughter's account. You suggested to run those ...

Two debian accounts and sound gets disabled in one of them

She can't hear anything and I have to reboot my laptop so that she can have sound again. I'm not even sure where to begin to debug the problem. I'm using alsamixer but e...

Well, I think I got lost but in the meantime, I think everything is working now as it was supposed to.

If anyone wants to keep the discussion going, I won't prepend [solved] to the thread title!

Ok, thank you all.

I'm not going to enable any feature and expose my machine to attacks of any sorts, so I will follow @Head_on_a_Stick advice. Won't use AppImages at all.

Thanks

(or delete the line in /etc/network/interfaces that sources that file). I would not do that. It is a default line. Remove the bogus /etc/network/interfaces.d/setup is the right option. By the way, does someone know what creates this file ? I read several reports about it and the trouble it causes, ...

Re: networking.service cannot start due to unknown device

That's some good detective work OP, well done. Thank you sir. Problem is that I can't fix the problems. But I acknowledge that at least finding them is already not bad. If you want to use ifupdown to configure your ethernet connection then correct the name of the interface in /etc/network/interface...
