Re: A NTP oddness on just one server
OK I solved it I guess. First, I set the time-zone to GMT The next day I looked via timedatectl and it was at real GTM I set it to GM+8 and is responed set the clock to GMT -8 So I set to GMT -8 and yeah, now it is a GMT +8 and is giving the correct time. :-) mike@im:~$ timedatectl Local time: Wed 2...

Re: A NTP oddness on just one server
donald I didn't touch the ntp.conf files if the exist on the VMs. They are as they were from the installer when installing the VMs. Our DHCP server, which all the other systems use, also tells each client to get its time from the network time server on this network. All devices so, including CCTV d...

Re: A NTP oddness on just one server
Aki I give up. There are four VMs. Three are right and agree with the host. All four are configured the same way. All are using the same Debian code, The system board's virtualization option is enabled via BIOS. Thanks for the information. It was interesting. This will remain 'unsolved.'

Re: A NTP oddness on just one server
Aki Also. as the only true RTC is on the VM host and the host has it right, as do all the VMs, how would I be able to set the RTC as a VM doesn't really have a RTC? Here is the VM root@im:/home/mike# timedatectl Local time: Thu 2024-04-25 04:50:36 PST Universal time: Wed 2024-04-24 20:50:36 UTC RTC...

Re: A NTP oddness on just one server
Aki OK, so color me confused. The Realtime clock is typically set as updated by the NTP, if NTP is active, not the other way around. Is that not right? In any case, the universal time is set by the NTP with the TimeZone offset, not the RTC, assuming NTP is active. Is that wrong? As far as I know, a...

Re: A NTP oddness on just one server
Aki , This is not a sleep thing. It is consistent and consistently off by exactly eight hours (or sixteen when considering it in another way). Plus, what is off/switched is the local and universal time, and even then it is wrong. Compare those two fields with the proper results from NTP on the othe...

[Solved] A NTP oddness on just one server
I have about fifty devices, of which there are five severs and six workstations. NTP seems to be running fine on all but one server. I am lost as why it is having problems. In the graphic here, https://ndevor.netwright.net/time.png Note all the times on three are pretty much right where they are sup...

Re: Only have Dummy Output Sound in Gnome, but no errors in dmesg
I have the same "dummy" audio output. I am also running Debian 12 with gnome. I assume the problem has been there for a long time, but I only now added a speaker to this unit and so only now noticed it. The processor is Xeon. I have the same processor and same manufacturer SB in another sy...

Re: minimize maximize and close icons too small
Yeah, have them... no help. And getting the mouse at exactly the right spot to grab focus is a pain. Just a twitch loses focus.

Re: minimize maximize and close icons too small
Thanks, CwF I have tried that and I can change the themes, again. (I had tried this before.) I found a Window them that worked mostly. It's a partial fix. Changing the Theme fixed all except for the browser. I changed a settings on the browsers I am using and the main control icons are now larger. T...

minimize maximize and close icons too small
This may well be the most embarrassing and dumbest question I have asked in a long time, but never the less... I am using MATE on Debian 12 with a NVidia GT-730. I have played with all the settings but to no avail. The minimize, maximize and close icons are too small and getting the mouse over the e...

Re: WARNING!. Problems with the incoming update - kernel 6.1.0-18 & nvidia driver
No, I just stopped all updates until I read about adding the "proposed" line in the sources.list file. I updated the file and get ran apt update/upgrade/dist-upgrade.

Re: WARNING!. Problems with the incoming update - kernel 6.1.0-18 & nvidia driver
I added the proposed updates and the nvidia driveres were updated.
But was not re-offered the 6.1.0-18 I had run the purge of it five days ago.
So do I wait now for 6.1.0-19?

[Solved] Razer Debian 12 repositories no longer at Opensuse
I use a Razor mouse and until today, the repository for it was at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/hardware:/razer/Debian_12 However, TODAY, I got the message from apt: Error: The repository 'http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/hardware:/razer/Debian_12 Release' no longer has a Releas...

steve_v You say... I see no mention of attempts to connect to github in that flatpak output, From Flatpak: Info: applications using this runtime: com.github.PopoutApps.popout3d, org.remmina.Remmina OK, pardon my ignorance, but it can't find the runtime because the github repository cannot be access...

Re: [Software] Github release for bookworm
steve_v If you also have some problem with a flatpak application, it would probably be useful to tell us what that is, no? Ah! but I did! This: com.github.PopoutApps.popout3d, org.remmina.Remmina is the issue. as from the previously posted Info: runtime org.gnome.Platform branch 43 is end-of-life, ...
