Re: [Discussion] Which Mobile Vendor device do you use?
I use an old BQ Aquaris Pro, which was released in 2017 but which has received no updates beyond Android 8 and the company is no longer in the mobile phone business, so, rather than fork out money for a new phone, I installed e-os on it and it now runs a “deGoogled” version 11 of Android OS. It work...

Re: [Off-Topic] Grr... Derivatives, based on - or derived from?
Some, otherwise educated(?), websites say "based on Debian". They should know better. I agree but one can't say they should know better since the Debian website itself says it: Debian derivatives There are a number of distributions based on Debian. Some people might want to take a look at...

Re: Discussion and poll on subforum title
I'd simply call it "Sid and testing, for experienced users". Or perhaps, "Sid and testing, for advanced users". It might deter some newbies from jumping in the deep end. But who knows? In general, the lower the post count, the greater the likelihood sid & testing will be chos...

Re: EU Chat Control and the UK Online Safety Bill are perilously close to passing. Come on, folks! Act!
If you search online for "chat control EU" you'll find critical texts from all over the political spectrum, not just the extreme right like Breitbart. It obviously depends on the search engine: I tried a Google search for "chat control EU" and didn't get anything at all about Br...

Re: EU Chat Control and the UK Online Safety Bill are perilously close to passing. Come on, folks! Act!
So, I did a search and saw this at mullvad.net/en/blog:
"EU chat control law will ban open source operating systems"
If this is the case then Debian should, in my view, issue an official statement to oppose and protest the proposed law.

Re: Poll: how long have you been using Debian?
Since Debian 4 "Etch" came out back in 2007 & I joined this place a year later. And I've used all stable versions since then. Reminds me of a poll I posted here , in 2012, to ask, "What was your first Debian release? It's been a long time & it's nice to see other old-timers ar...

Re: NEW USERS ONLY: What non-forum resources have you used the most when learning Debian?
Not enough people have answered this poll to give any useful statistical data (reliability). The problem still stands - how can we find out what non-forum resources new members use the most? Any ideas? If I may be permitted a tongue-in-cheek comment? Maybe the survey should have been posted in Sid'...

Re: Visit your profile to choose a flag.
I checked and see that the flag of the glorious Klingon Empire doesn't appear along with all the other users' flags at the foot of the page. Neither does the glorious Wales dragon flag for that matter.
How about adding an inglorious Jolly Roger flag?

Re: Installing debian on a phone
Hi
I reckon it's not possible.
Regarding the battery you could have it replaced. I recently had a new battery put in an old S7 device.
I think your best best bet would be to install /e/os on it assuming it's Exynos.

Well, thanks for posting the article but, having read and re-read it, I find myself at a bit of a loss to understand what possible interest it might have for forum members.

Hi,
Your inxi command shows:

Re: [SID - Unstable] Welcome
I recall reading somewhere that this black & yellow colour scheme occurs not only in hornets and wasps but in quite a few other creatures, like, for example, the deadly yellow-banded poison dart frog and the banded krait snake as a warning to possible predators. But—hey—maybe this and calling it...

Visit your profile to choose a flag.
Hi,
After login I get an "Information: Please take a moment and visit your profile to choose a flag" pop-up.
The chosen flag is for my nationality, my location or may I choose any flag I like?

Re: General Resolution: Non-Free Firmware. Call for votes :-)
I look forward to a vast diminution of posts regarding "x hardware doesn't work after installing Debian". So non-free firmware may be enabled automatically, without user intervention as in, for example, Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE); all very pragmatic and "user-friendly" no ...
