Re: Problems with bash variables

i think you should use a wiki to learn bash scripting from scratch instead of opening a thread for every hurdle you encounter.

i took your other request seriously (ssh and sudo su), now i feel a little miffed because i realise you're just faffing around to learn bash.

Re: Running a variable as a command.

`run` have you just tried $run instead? i have done this sometimes successfully, sometimes, in cases like your's where variables are nested like that, it took some fiddling to make it work. depending on who you ask, this is an evil thing to do and eval should be used instead, or the other way aroun...

Re: how to back up data and impact on the environment

The grub configuration has certain hash numbers that are unique to the partition. It was long ago but I could not manage making the copied partition bootable. THis is more difficult if you copy from one computer and installed on another computer. oh, i missed this earlier. you are talking about UUI...

Dirty boy! How can people be allowed to post this sort of insulting content here. they think it's only a joke, but they're making us debian users look really bad. i demand Head_on_a_Stick to be expelled immediately. looking at the systemd-analyze blame output, there's a lot to be investigated for udisks2, winbind (what is that even?), dev-sda1, ModemManger, exim4 (why is that even active on your system?)... for each unit, do journalctl -b -u unit (replace "unit" with the service from systemd-analyze) ...

Maybe I mathed wrong in the earlier post or maybe gravity is fluctuating. 60 minutes - 11 minutes = 49 minutes. so i'm guessing you're actually one hour off som...
