Re: I'm unable to revert to a Btrfs snapshot.

Thanks for the answer, but even if I chroot into subvol=rootsys (instead of subvol=@rootfs) (after the mount and mount --bind commands) (in the case of the VM where it has @rootfs as the default subvolume name) and try to do update grub and update-initramfs -u, I get the following upon trying to boo...

Minor Qt errors with running backintime --backup with runuser

I'm running the backintime --backup command with runuser as follows.: runuser --login myusername -c 'backintime --backup' The program does work as intended except that it gives the following bad output (within the successful output).: QPainter::begin Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2 QWidge...

Re: I'm unable to revert to a Btrfs snapshot.

Sorry for the huge delay, and thanks for the responses. I read what was said several times, and I'm still confused. bester69, in particular, I'm confused about how to get rootsys. How can I get the currently-used subvolume to be a snapshot in the snapshot directory (which I have in /home/user/My_Btr...

I'm unable to revert to a Btrfs snapshot.

Hello to everyone that's reading this. :) I took a snapshot with a test folder on the desktop, and I then deleted it, and I want to restore it by booting to the snapshot that has the folder. root@debian-btrfs-snapshot-testing:~# btrfs subvolume list / ID 262 gen 11647 top level 5 path home/user/btrf...

Re: I installed Debian on a USB HDD, but it only boots on 1

Ah, yes. Here's fdisk -l from the 320 GB USB HDD's OS.: root@debian:~# fdisk -l Disk /dev/sdb: 931.51 GiB, 1000204886016 bytes, 1953525168 sectors Disk model: ST1000DM003-1SB1 Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 409...

Re: I installed Debian on a USB HDD, but it only boots on 1

Thanks for the response. :) And, yes, it seems that /dev/sda1 is the BIOS Boot partition, as shown below, in the outputs you asked for.: root@debian:~# fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 4.55 TiB, 5000981077504 bytes, 9767541167 sectors Disk model: Basic Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logic...

Re: I installed Debian on a USB HDD, but it only boots on 1

Actually, I found this ( https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/grub-can%27t-boot-a-gpt-external-usb-drive-tells-me-device-not-found-4175657952/page4.html#post6019773 ). So, it might just be the BIOS of the computer where the drive doesn't work being buggy or just not supporting ...

Re: I installed Debian on a USB HDD, but it only boots on 1

Could it have something to do with the two drives that work on both computes being at most 2 TB (2 TB and 320 GB), and the one that works only on one computer being 5 TB? I'm not very clear on this stuff, but in other words, could this have something to do with the msdos vs gpt partition tables? I a...

Re: I installed Debian on a USB HDD, but it only boots on 1

Thanks for the response. :) Maybe I'm missing something, but the reason why I don't think that's what it is is because the two USB HDDs that work on both computers are legacy / non-UEFI installations, yet they work on the computer that my other USB HDD doesn't work on, and all three Debian installat...

I installed Debian on a USB HDD, but it only boots on 1 comp

I installed Debian on a USB HDD, but it only boots on one of my computers. I have done this with other drives, and it works, but for this particular drive, on one computer it boots fine, but on the other, it shows me "GRUB" (without the quotes), without even having the ability to enter Gru...

Re: Why can't I set the compression level when mounting btrf

Oh! I think that because, on Wikipedia, it's written as "Yes (zlib, LZO[5] and (since 4.14) ZSTD[6])", and, because the 4.14 is near the ZSTD there, my brain kept ignoring the part you mentioned from the website you linked, due to it thinking that the zlib near the 4.14 text applied to ZST...

[SOLVED] Why can't set compress. level when mounting btrfs?

I got a drive that's using btrfs as the filesystem to be successfully mounted with compression with a command like mount /dev/sda /mnt -o compress=zlib, but a command like mount /dev/sda /mnt -o compress=zlib:9 doesn't work. (If I remember correctly, it gives me an error along the lines of "wro...

Re: I'm having trouble with CSS floats/floating

It turns out that what I pasted here does indeed work, and that what I was using locally had typos where the class names didn't have an s at the end and the second ID was image_flag_1 as well, instead of image_flag_2.

I will now mark this thread as solved. :)

Upgrading from jessie to stretch changed my window icons

Upgrading from jessie/stable to stretch/(frozen) testing changed my window icons, and I can't seem to change them back to what they used to be.
