Re: Pavucontrol scroll behavior

In addition to this, simply pressing right arrow on a youtube video seems to destroy and recreate the sound source, resetting the volume and the scrollbar position.

Default output level of audio source

Is it possible to tell pulseaudio "when creating a new audio source, please use the volume level of the last audio source that just ended". My use case: when listening to music on bandcamp, I might set the volume to say, 75%, just for that tab / audio source. When the next track starts, th...

Pavucontrol scroll behavior

Fresh install of Debian 12, MATE desktop. I have pavucontrol open all the time on my desktop. I am scrolled all the way to the bottom of the pavucontrol playback tab. Whenever a new audio source starts playing (usually a tab in a firefox) this audio source appears in the pavucontrol window in such a...

[Hardware] Monitor is not detected after monitor power cycle

Brand new fresh install of Debian 12. I have a Geforce 1060 GTX, but wanting to run ML workloads that require more RAM, I recently got a P40. Everything works great, the P40 is excellent, but running into a very strange issue now. When I turn off my monitor and back on, the monitor no longer has out...

[Software] gthumb no longer working in Debian 12

Recently did a fresh install of Debian 12, was on Debian 10. Unfortunately, gthumb no longer seems to be working. I've been using it to view (as thumbnails) all images in subdirectories. I will start in the root directory of interest, then do "search", "rules:" "all images&q...

Re: How do you install the Nvidia Tesla drivers?

In case anyone runs into this issue...it appears to be some sort of feature missing from my motherboard and/or bios, ie "Above 4GB decoding". Sadly the only solution here was to purchase a new motherboard + proc. Good news is that I didn't even have to install any software, simply swapped ...

Re: How do you install the Nvidia Tesla drivers?

Found this in dmesg: NVRM: This PCI I/O region assigned to your NVIDIA device is invalid: NVRM: BAR1 is 0M @ 0x0 (PCI:0000:02:00.0) and NVRM: The system BIOS may have misconfigured your GPU. My motherboard manual shows 2 video cards being used simultaneously, so I thought this would work, but clearl...

Re: How do you install the Nvidia Tesla drivers?

Small update here. Installed Debian 11. Same issue.

Tried nvidia-driver and nvidia-tesla-driver. Same issue.

Upgraded to bookworm. Same issue.

Tried nvidia-driver and nvidia-tesla-driver. Same issue.

Is there some low level way I can try and communicate with the Tesla here?

[Solved] How do you install the Nvidia Tesla drivers?

Debian 10. nvidia-detect shows both my geforce and my tesla. Recommends nvidia-driver. According to this: https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers tesla drivers are supposedly included with the debian 10 nvidia-driver. I install this, reboot, I'm on 418. nvidia-smi -L doesn't show the tesla. nv...

Re: How do I configure grub to show text when booting?

I do not have "quiet splash" in the boot parameters.

I do see text flash very quickly after boot starts, but then it is replaced with a black screen.

How do I debug this?

Re: Pulseaudio randomly changes output device and volume

Ok here's something interesting. I connect my bluetooth headset. It shows up in pulseaudio. I change an audio stream from the motherboard soundcard to the bluetooth headset. The volume of the motherboard soundcard for this stream was at 100%. I change it to bluetooth, it's now at 110%. I bring the s...

Re: Pulseaudio randomly changes output device and volume

No issues with connection. The headset is one foot away from the computer, it never disconnects. What will happen is I will pause playback, and if I wait too long, say five minutes, when I resume playback, the volume is turned all the way and the wrong output device is selected. Let's start with the...

Re: Intel Integrated Graphics

But rendering will be performed by the CPU and performance will be greatly reduced. Thank you!! That is totally fine, it's just to render a gui for an audio plugin. (Dragonfly reverb) I tested this and it works perfectly!! Before I was unable to view the text in the plugin, now I can, and speed-wis...

Re: Pulseaudio randomly changes output device and volume

My early experiences with pulseaudio admittedly rubbed me a bit the wrong way (Ubuntu in 2008 I think it was). Over the years it has mostly worked well for me. I don't really know anything about JACK or Pipewire, I'm certainly open to trying them. I figure since PA has had so much development over t...

Re: i3lock no longer passes media keys after switching to MATE

Funny enough, it looks like this *just* got fixed. For anyone running into the same issue as I did, I had to make a shell script (as xbindkeys was unable to parse the lock command in .xbindkeysrc) i3lock --custom-key-commands --cmd-media-play="/path/to/play.sh" --cmd-media-pause="/pat...

Re: Pulseaudio randomly changes output device and volume

No apology needed of course, just still trying to chip away at the multitude of problems here haha. Thank you! I will try that and see :) I also commented out "module-switch-on-port-available", as that is something that seems like it could change profiles / volume levels / other parameters...
