Re: So many fonts … but why, oh why ?

On a related note, check out how many font files are in your /usr/share/consolefonts/!
Six hundred and fifty nine in mine!
I'm non on straight Debian, but a Bookworm-derived distro.

Re: Can logrotate apply multiple rotate rules?

Logrotate will not perform real-time monitoring of a log file's size, but you can run logrotate as often as needed as a cron job. The "daily" rotation parameter for the file can be included in the usual logrotate.conf, and the "size 50M" parameter can be included in a special log...

Re: Installation routine on /dev/sd(x) missing boot flag.

GRUB does not read, write, or have any use for partition boot flags. Neither does the BIOS, which knows nothing
about partitions or partition tables or flags. EFI does not use boot flags either. The partition boot flag is a Windows-only thing.

There is no package "ntfsprogs". Its functionality was included in the ntfs-3g package about 6 years ago.

Re: MATE Move files using mouse

In my version of Caja, moving seems to be the default action when dragging&dropping a file. To get an actual menu item, you could put a MoveTo script file in the Caja scripts folder. "MoveTo" would then appear in the Scripts submenu of any file's context menu. This is the one I have, u...

Re: List packages installed from specific repository

In the Synaptic package manager, there's a very handy filter pane on the left side. Select the Origin button, and you get a list of all your configured repositories.
Clicking on one of them will give you a list of all packages from that repository, with the installation status marked.

Re: Menu Icons Under MATE (GNOME 2) Question

You likely have to restart your user session for the new icon to show. Icon can be located anywhere, not necessarily in the directory where the Choose Icon dialog opens.

Re: Integer values for window scaling

Why don't you just set your screen resolution to be something smaller? The image will be "scaled" automatically (usually) to fill the monitor screen, thus items will appear larger.

Re: Question about Xorg log file

I've used maybe 3 or 4 versions of the Intel driver on Linux installations, and its log output with regard to modesetting has always been a little flaky in one way or another. There is no documentation that I've been able to find that explains what the I915 driver is doing or why. On an Ubuntu 9.04 ...

At the bottom of the left panel in Synaptic, try clicking on the "Origin" button, and then the list of source repositories should appear, in a format somewhat different than
they appear in the sources.list file.

Re: Force Firefox to use xdg-open

Check out which mime-type the server actually declares for the file, and if there are any Content-Disposition headers in the response. Those are what Firefox uses (and quite properly so) to decide how a file should be handled (along with user prefs). What you think, and what the website says, about ...

No solutions here, but I would suggest the message you show likely has nothing to do with your display problem. I get hundreds of such messages every session, regarding powerdevil
and many other components, with no apparent misbehavior.

First off, you could say what you mean by the useless and uninformative phrase "doesn't work".

Second, inasmuch as Nautilus is a large, complicated program with many facets, you could give some hint of what part of it you're talking about.

sda2 is the fat32 partition . . . Neither fdisk output mentions any FAT32 partition, and I believe only antique versions of Windows can be installed on FAT32 filesystems anyway. The Slitaz fdisk output seems very garbled, I wouldn't trust a single line of it. I believe you can ignore any "boun...
