Re: NFS common
Also, after changing something in fstab I get the message: "mount: (hint) your fstab has been modified, but systemd still uses the old version; use 'systemctl daemon-reload' to reload".
After running this command I can use mount -a with the error in the previous post

Re: NFS common
You're probably missing a repository (or all of them, if you installed without selecting a mirror).
That is it! I installed using wifi during installation and Debian does not let me connect to wifi during installation. So I installed without a mirror.

[Solved] NFS common
Installed Debian 12, newest release. I had experience with Debian before and knew I needed to install nfs-common in order to mount my networkshares. Unfortunatley nfs-common no longer available thru Synaptic? So I downloaded the package from the Debian server but it does not install due to other mis...

Debian 10 system log
I cannot find the system log, I want to see the events that happened after my pc was shutdown properly but restarted almost directly after that without me doing anything.
How can I find and read the logfiles?

Re: cron jobs
crontab -e add; 00 1 * * * xfce4-session-logout --fast I think this will shut down, and not save the session. So, in order to understand and learn: The "1" is the time, the several "*" mean that it is valid under all circumstances? Is time used in a 24-hours notation or do I spe...

Re: cron jobs
As this is a headless pc, no monitor or keyboard connected, the pc should shutdown without action from the user so cron is the way to go I think.

cron jobs
I have never worked with cron and have no idea how to find a solution for what I want. My Debian 10 XFCE machine needs to shutdown every day at 01:00 AM. I found a nice program to do the job but for some reason it does not work properly. From what I hear using cron will do the trick but finding an e...

Re: network share issue
If possible I would like to do it without Samba.
It worked allways before without having to configure Samba.

I do not understand what I do wrong: I installed Debian 10 on my audiopc, it is connected via wired network and has a fixed IP. There is an M.2 ssd, mounted under "mnt" called M.2_music. On my Windows 10 pc I want to create a network drive/share to the M.2 so I type in: \\xxx.xxx.xxx.4\mnt...

Re: timer for sleep at 01:00
Thank you all for helping me. I just found a little program, it is in the packagemanager and it is called "Qshutdown". It does exactly what I need with a nice gui. Programmable for once or for every day of the week. The gui is important as this pc goes to a friend who has to be able to per...
