Re: Which Browser do you use?

FWIW I've used flagfox for this (and other useful shortcuts like traceroute and internet archive) for many years. While it isn't FOSS, my investigations (read: basic traffic analysis) make me fairly comfortable using it. YMMV of course. Thanks for the Flagfox extension, I didn't know anything about...

Re: Which Browser do you use?

Never ditch a browser for a few milliseconds more speed, there are other more important factors as you found out When i posted my last message about Browser, i had been away from Firefox for several months. The reasons of my leaving were not just a matter of speed regardless of what i wrote. Chromi...

Re: Which Browser do you use?

Back to Mozilla Firefox. Chromium become unusable with Manifest V3 or with total blocking of Ublock Origin.

Chromium purged
Welcome back Mozilla Firefox

Re: Debian 12 works efficiently with older desktop computers.

On my then OptiPlex-330 from 2007 E8600 Core 2 Duo
Debian worked as a fine wine from 2015 to 2022.
A netinst ISO associated with openbox/tint2 or dwm/spectrwm it will probably go quitly nice until the end of the decade for the potato PC's.

Re: 4k@60hz don't work

That's an awesome Smart TV. Things to consider Adapter, Graphic Cards Upgrade/Newer additional (except for the Intel integrated), Quality Cable, A newer generates processor. Many complaints for similar issues recommend to check about mostly cables. On my old Tower i used to have 30Hz issues aswell b...

Re: 4k@60hz don't work

Thanks! I have tried Debian Live and Open Suse Live, both can't get 4k@60hz, but the funny part is the "live grub" is loaded on 60hz. How I know? Well my monitor have game bar were shows the FPS / HDR / VRR. About the DP cable, it's DP -> HDMI because the monitor don't have DP ports only ...

Re: Which is the worst distribution you have tried?

I have had only good experiences over the years with Linux OS'es, where i have failed somewhere, it was only because i made some stupid mistake.

Ubuntu, Mint, #!, BunsenLabs, Debian, Devuan, Alpine, Fedora and currently openSUSE. All these OS's have given me only fun and fulfilled my needs.

Re: 4k@60hz don't work

- Cable Make sure the heads on both sides are DP (display port) not DP to HDMI or both HDMI. DP standalone on both sides - Monitor Make sure monitor support DP port, also make sure you set it right to DP not to HDMI. - Desktop Tower/Small Form-Factor OptiPlex-3080 have display port on #8 from behind...

Re: Which Browser do you use?

I ditched Firefox for Chromium, i see a much better performance on the web pages, and especially in the browser launch. It also seems to me that it is more lightweight versus Firefox.

Re: What does your non-Debian desktop look like?

^ Welcome to the Wayland club Nili :-) Have you tried sway yet? wlroots is better than either kwin or mutter IMO. Thanks bro, I am already on Wayland club since 1 year due to Fedora 35/36. I broke up 2 months ago to join Tumbleweed. And as a beginner i thought there was no alternative but X11 stand...

Re: What does your non-Debian desktop look like?

openSUSE TW X11 It lasted two months. In general, very well with frequent updates. But the first install i didn't used very wise during NETINST. As i said above, it didn't give me the opportunity to build it the way wanted. Very WRONG of me. There was a lot possibility to selective features, but the...
