@CwF
I've been doing that most of the times but there are times, especially when one is in hurry, when this fells sideways. I hope there is a solution around this, hopefully!

[Software] How to prevent gpg-agent pinentry from grabbing (locking) keyboard & mouse
On Debian Sid gpg-agent (2.2.40-1.1) pinentry program grabs the keyboard and mouse and once that happens, user is unable to switch the windows using either keyboard or mouse. This can be especially annoying if you have the password stored in a password-manager as you won't be able to switch/open the...

Yes, it does.kiyop wrote:I read https://github.com/hakerdefo/pmrp/blob/master/pmrp
The above displays all the titles of the played radio stream including the old ones, doesn't it?
And thanks for the great tip. That tip not only shrinks the script but makes it more readable and easier to understand.
Cheers!!!

Re: Bash: replace the former output with the new one
Sorry for a delayed reply :( Thanks a metric ton kiyop for your valued suggestions :D Thanks also to BowCatShot and Loomx for some great input :D I was working on an Internet radio player script and this question was asked specifically for a section of that script. I've already released the first ve...

Re: Bash: replace the former output with the new one
Thanks Kiyop for posting this on my behalf. To recap my question, I'm using mpg123 to play radio streams like this one, http://streaming.radionomy.com/-1ClassicRock I'm running mpg123 in terminal emulator to play the stream. By default the output looks like following, mpg123 http://streaming.radiono...

@vbrummond Thanks for your contributions to the forum! Being a moderator in Linux forums can at times be frustrating, plus you have to provide a certain time out of the daily schedule as well. Not an easy task. I hope this thread doesn't continue like it has until now cause as members of the forum w...

Re: Thoughts on Ubuntu maintaining Jessie's kernel ~ discuss
Okay here is the story (real) behind Ubuntu maintaining Jessie kernel, Ben Hutchings who is maintaining 3.2 kernel felt that he won't have time to maintain another longterm stable branch. He proposed to Greg Kroah-Hartman that his next longterm kernel branch be based on 3.16 but due to earlier freez...

It doesn't provide the proof but proofs and evidences are hard to come-up with when we are discussing about actions and intentions. why did Debian leadership take the decision ...

Re: Thoughts on Ubuntu maintaining Jessie's kernel ~ discuss
The “New Maintainer process” is a strange way to discourage people to contribute to Debian. It is particularly bureaucratic and a huge waste of time both for the applicant and his manager. It should be completely thrown overboard. One needs a more scalable approach for trust and credibility that al...

Re: Thoughts on Ubuntu maintaining Jessie's kernel ~ discuss
Although I agree with the first part, I even mentioned at the beginning of the thread how amazing it is that a distro with the large resources Debian has does not have enough manpower for kernel maintenance :? , where do you get the idea from that there is an untapped pool of kernel maintainers? An...

It's impossible to argue with the clinically delusional. (Just sayin') A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary. My beliefs related to this thread, 1) Involvement of commercial corporations like Canonical and Red Hat with the vital operating syste...

Re: Thoughts on Ubuntu maintaining Jessie's kernel ~ discuss
Decision makers at the top are busy in-fighting and promoting their own agendas and ignoring the voice of majority of Debian users (for example systemd). (Emphasis added) I am not challenging the validity of the statement, I personally wouldn't know what to say about it, but I can't help wondering ...

Re: Thoughts on Ubuntu maintaining Jessie's kernel ~ discuss
Slackware, Gentoo and Debian are fundamentally different distributions but the following is still an interesting comparison, Slackware = 7 member strong development team Gentoo = Around 175 active developers Debian = Around 1500 active developers And who out of these three relies on outsiders to mai...

Re: Thoughts on Ubuntu maintaining Jessie's kernel ~ discuss
This is getting blown out of proportion. There are no "cracks forming" because they decided to support a certain version of the kernel. I also don't understand where the init system comes into this. I'd like to see some hard data and not duf rants. Two very very critical components, kerne...

How trustworthy and stable can an operating system remain when it's developers don't have much control over init system and kernel?
