Re: What's wrong with Debian and RMS?

it would appear to me that Debian, while it may be voting, is actually in support of RMS That's just the one of the voting options listed on the page. There are a total of seven options available to the developers. One of the options would even be supported by the conspiracy theory nutcases: https:...

Re: What's wrong with Debian and RMS?

Said that as a matter of fact Debian is actually voting about having an official position against RMS: https://www.debian.org/vote/2021/vote_002 That is crazy for me there is no need to take any action Taking no action is one of the options in the fully open, entirely transparent, democratic proces...

Re: Build GNOME 40 on Debian 10

I'm on GNOME 40 in my Arch box. I used their [gnome-unstable] repositories but the packages have been moved to [staging] now so they should be available in [testing] and the main repositories soon.

Debian stable is a poor choice if you want to run bleeding-edge desktop versions.

Re: Installer cannot find drives

Check the firmware ("BIOS") settings for an option to enable AHCI mode for the drives.

Note that Rufus only works for Debian ISO images if the "DD" mode [sic] is selected. See the Debian CD FAQ for the officially recommended software in respect of ISO burning (hint: not Rufus).

Looks like both the analogue and digital outputs are set as card 0 but I must admit that I don't really understand the posted command output. I would just install pulseaudio and let that sort it out. Use the pavucontrol package to set the desired outputs & inputs graphically. If you really don't...

Because it's outdated. Debian buster has v1.1 at the moment.

Re: Unintended consequences of planting Firefox 87 in Buster

safe What about when FF is updated? Installing a single .deb would leave it out of date after a while, which doesn't seem very safe for such a security-critical application. I agree with VA1DER's post but installing Mozilla's tarball in "$HOME" is probably the best way to run the non-ESR ...

The autoremove command might cause some issues if you don't pay attention to the output. See http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=104157 for more on this.

There's no mystery at all — the drive was full. To stop it happening again perhaps try actually reading the log files to see what the problem was instead of just blindly deleting them.

Remove the ampersand from the end of the line, it is not needed.

If you use my line you can change the wallpaper by opening the desired image with feh and using the right-click menu options I listed instead of editing the autostart file manually.

What is the graphics hardware? Debian buster doesn't support 10th or 11th generation Intel integrated graphics.

Have you tried the Debian bullseye alpha3 installer?
