Re: USB Bluetooth adapter for headphones possibilities?

I just got it today..... I was starting to suspect it was coming directly from China even though it was a US shipping origin listed in the auction. It came First Class mail, which explains the lack of a tracking number. It still took longer than what ebay said.... oh well. On to making it work now.

I ordered a no-name elcheapo on ebay, and I'm still waiting for it. If it doesn't eventually show up, I'll likely go with the Plugable.

Re: USB Bluetooth adapter for headphones possibilities?

I have never seen a Bluetooth chipset that linux doe not support, but of course it's easy to google it as you suggest. Also, share phone mobile internet to laptops over wifi (access point) because over bluetooth it is slow. I had no idea I could share an internet connection over Bluetooth.... no im...

Re: USB Bluetooth adapter for headphones possibilities?

Just do a bit of research and make to get a "dongle" that is known to be working in linux without too much trouble. There are plenty. Once you have one and it's plugged in you will need a few packages, bluetooth, blueman, bluez, bluez-firmare, etc. You may also need some free/non-free-fir...

I've never seen anything like that, but my first thought it a hardware fault.

Re: Interesting tutorial

Is a computer not physical,? And is it not as much part of the physical world, including the desk that his computer is on, the shelf above the computer, and the tool box that is outside in the storage shed,...something to think about. You didn't share the physical computer, desk, or shelf. You shar...

What hassles are you speaking of? Normally Synaptic works very well for me.

Re: Interesting tutorial

This is a first for me..... a person showing off a grandparents computer artifact as opposed to something found in the physical world (shelf, tool box, or desk). This further illustrates something I've been thinking about lately... that time marches on.

It's as simple as going back to your first post in the thread and editing the title. Some forums have title editing disabled, but it's doable here.

Re: Very Old PC, Should I upgrade to Buster?

There are probably better qualified people to answer than I, but here are my thoughts, experiences, and decisions. My main computer is an old server that I have setup as a desktop PC. I installed Jessie in 2015 and never upgraded to Stretch or Buster, for fear of ending up with a slower system, and ...

Re: Nonfree firmware during installation (iwlwifi-8265)

An advice: it is never a good idea to install Linux on a computer with a wireless connection. It is best to always use a cable for the installation. Once that is complete, you can switch to the wireless link. That avoids a stalled installation because the WLAN doesn't work. I disagree. I have wifi ...

Re: Palemoon repo weirdness.... attention Steven Pusser

I think it would be better if you posted terminal output, for example: apt install -s palemoon Hmm, I just tried it, and I got the expected output, so I went ahead and installed it with apt. Synaptic only sees it now that it's installed. If I click on the Architecture section of Synaptic I see seve...

Palemoon repo weirdness.... attention Steve Pusser

A few hours ago, I tried adding the Palemoon repo to my Buster sources.list and I was getting funny results. The repo wouldn't show up in Synaptic, but I could see the individual packages, which had ARM64 appended onto the name. I double checked that I was using the Debian 10 repos, and not Raspberr...

USB Bluetooth adapter for headphones possibilities?

I'm new to Bluetooth. I bought some headphones and use them with my phone, and there are times I thought it would be nice to use them with my computer. I started looking at USB dongles (<---that is such a weird word) and from reading mostly generic reviews on the web it sounds like they often need s...

Re: Not getting any updates from Synapic Package Manager

I think it may be because you're trying to use https, instead of http. On my Jessie system Synaptic wasn't even capable of using an https repo until I added a package. I was trying to add a repo that used it, for a package that was specifically recommended to me here, that's not in the Debian reposi...
