Re: Do you use Debian in the presence of Windows users?

Of course! The shop where I work, I often have to open and fix the files that the their computers can't deal with. Usually it is due to file formatting issues. Not bad for a SHIPPER.....not the computer tech. LOL

Re: Can not install/boot Debian 6.0 from DVD

OK, based on what you have said, somehow you have managed to create a non-booting disk. Try burning it again, and if that fails, try re-downloading the image. All else fails, do non-disk install. :-)

Re: Theme wishlist thread

Well, I saw a few themes I liked...but I can not say that over time I would always enjoy them. So, I would have to cast a vote for the offering several choices of themes, so we members may choose the one that better works for us. That said, and since I have no idea what is involved in setting it up ...

Re: Welcome Back! (again)

Like most here, once I discovered that the forums were down, I promptly proceeded to assume the fetal position and rocking while hiding under my desk!  Once I got past that, I advanced to the frantically withdrawal type behavior of seaching for any and all evidence of the return of th...

Re: The new format makes it unduly difficult to read posts.

OK, I have to admit, while I am very happy that the forum is once again up, I am less than impressed with the new look. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful for all the work that was done to not only fix/configure/save the forum, I find the new layout uncomfortable and difficult to follow......

Network Manager in Debian is quite old, 0.6.6 I think, whereas Opensuse and Ubuntu are on version 0.7 which is much better.
0.7.0-1 is in the experimential repository...choice wisely... 8)

OK, try telling us what the particulars are...are you using Gnome, KDE, LXDE, XFCE, what? What file type is it ogg, mp3, wav, well? If it is not a wav or ogg, you can either convert it, or install and add the script to your login. On Gnome, just do your "configure login" and find the tab t...

OK, I do believe it all depends on your favorite songs format....Gnome does ogg, and wav...but doesn't handle mp3.....:-) I am sure the same it true for most of the Dm's out there (but would love to be told otherwise.)

OK, well, I usually use Gnome, so the drive is automounted after ntfs-3g has been installed, and I have mounted the drive the first time...or logout and return another time. So, if you are just using a CLI you will have to issue the mount command. As to the formatting, I used Gparted.....so fdisk fo...

I don't know in your case, but I had to install a NTFS reader/writer to use my new external drive....the drive came NTFS formatted. I used the ntfs-3g. OK, first did you look to see if you are using the same extras that the other posters are saying they are using? Do you have flash installed, are you using the mozilla-totem plug-in?
Are all your codec up to date...have you checked what you can possibly add to allow the videos to work? :-)
