Re: Gedit plugins

Gedit 3.30 2-2 works for me. You dont need gedit-plugins to be installed. Some plugins are installed by default. That package adds additional plugins. Buster /cinnamon. Its a standalone text editor,i wouldnt have thought that the gnome desktop would alter that in any way.So i dont know why thats not w...

Re: Cinnamon 4 for Debian?

Cinnamon in buster(still testing) is working fine for me.I enjoy using it.Convince me about the jaw dropping new features in the latest versions that i absolutely must have? Desktop icons are working fine here on debian 10 buster.

cinnamon 3.8.8/nemo 3.8.5

And as you know can be toggled on/off via settings:

settings-desktop desktop layout/desktop icons.

Dont know about whats happened to stretch.Might be worth upgrading?

Re: Text not highlighted in nemo & other apps

After the base system is installed you are asked which software you want,i unticked xfce and chose cinnamon desktop instead.Cinnamon is the only DE i have installed.

Might be something installed with xfce thats the cause of this?
Does it work with cinnamon only?

Re: Chromium doesn't play IMDb video's on Debian Testing

They use h264 .chromium only supports Opus, Theora, Vorbis, WebM (VP8, VP9), and WAV which are open source. Firefox has an open source version of h264 built in.chromium doesnt,so cannot play them. Youtube works because all the videos can be played using WebM which chromium does support. I have both ...

Re: USB 3.0 I/O errors after upgrading from jessie to stretc

The driver is in the kernel. xhci_hcd is USB 3, ehci_hcd is USB2 lspci -v | grep xhci Drivers are a bit hit and miss when it comes to motherboards and USB3.Most people have to fix this by upgrading or downgrading the kernel.Stretch backports has 4.11, so you might want to try that as a starting poin...

Re: Debian 9 bug Nemo

You should be on nemo 3.2.2 cinnamon 3.2.7
For me in compact, list and icon modes renaming works as it should.
Can you post the output of

Code: Select all

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

Re: Debian 9 bug Nemo

If your talking about renaming files/folders in nemo then its Rt click or F2 and either just start typing the new name.Or to edit the name click on it below the file/folder and a cursor line appears which can be used to edit.

It works for me, or are you saying the mouse cursor disappears?

Re: Clock problem

All you can do is use Reportbug to notify developers and just keep it on 24hr clock.
Unlikely to get fixed in stable.
Im on cinnamon desktop and this doesnt happen,so it looks as though its an xfce bug.

Re: Chromium on Stretch

Leaf package in a debian system is one where no other package in that system depends on it.
Need backports to get newer version.Should get security updates for it though.

Re: Cannot set resolution on KDE5

Added contrib and non-free to the sources list, then i installed the driver using synaptic package manager.
Selected nvidia -driver (375.66) that pulled in everything needed for install.
Dont no why you cant install the headers im running stretch not buster.

Re: Do live Debian images have a future?

My introduction to debian was via a live disk ,so would be sad to see it go. Dont think i would have tried debian without it. Didnt come across any major problems with the Jessie live install or ubuntu live disks that ive tried in the past. Hope that debian live images does have a future and i appre...
