it definitely seems hopeless . The last try has failed with the same previous warning for SP_277NwX_db7690 : Printer cannot print with supplied options . As I am quite happy with this printer when the printer driver is deprecated I'll just use the apt-mark tool . many thanks for the help . And than...

What an interesting printer! It is Mopria certified but, because the URF= key is absent, is not AirPrint certified. The pdl= key indicates that it should provide enough for it to fit Debian's driverless printing system. Set up this print queue: lpadmin -p SP277 -v ipp://277NwX-DB7690.local/ipp/print...

The difference between SP SNwX and NwX isn't of any consequence. What is of consequence is that your avahi-browse output from the printer is incomplete. May we have the full output?

Just to be clear. I notice that the printer doesn't work since I upgraded from Debian 10 to Debian 11 because someone didn't do their job right. The first portion of the sentence is significant. The second portion introduces finger pointing (at Canon?) and I do not think we should have that :). You...

The printer is P2500 model. It can be only connected to the computer with USB 2.0 cable. No wireless, no LAN. Existing USB print queues will fail in Debian 11: the print queue must be driverless. If I understood this correctly, then any USB print queues will fail in Debian 11? Is there a workaround...

Hello, Is it possible to use my freshly created debian 11 installer usb flashdrive for put some more files on it later? I mean its in write protected filesystem and I'd like to use this device as storage too. In principal, what you want to do is doable. See https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/...

I've been using Debian Testing (Bookworm). It's been working great except that I can't find Audacity and Scribus in the repo. Highly appreciate if someone informs me when these two applications are supposed to enter Testing repo. See Developer Information after a search at https://www.debian.org/di...

BTW, I read something interesting about CUPS. It's owned by Apple and used and on several Apple OS's. To be precise: CUPS is not owned by Apple but does own the trademark on the name CUPS. Also, Apple holds the copyright on some of the code, which is distributed under a free license. However, Apple...

[...] The term "modern" used by Debian doesn't seem to be very useful to be honest. My printer (bought a few years ago) isn't driverless, yet there are older printers which are, as you point out. The term "modern" is intended to be contrasted with the terms "legacy" or...

The lists of printers which support driverless printing do not seem to be infallible. I hadn't come across that link before. I will check it in future. Thanks! The list is possibly not infallible but it is a good basis for making a start. A TXT record should provide a basis for a definitive conclus...

Thank you for your faith in my abilities, FreewheelinFrank :). You are correct; checking Apple and OpenPrinting does not show the device to be AirPrint enabled. Therefore, driverless printing appears not to be on the cards. But HP says otherwise . The TXT record from a couple of users for the device...

I have successfully dealt with this printer before but it needs to be put on the network, not USB. The method does not involve HPLIP and the queue setup should be trouble-free. If a wireless connection is established, give
