Ahh. The drive was running out of space. I deleted Ubuntu and updated Grub. Now Debian runs fine and Ubuntu can wait.

Re: dual boot, black screen after choosing Debian

I tried all three recommendations without success. I also tried the boot-repair program without success.

I wonder if it has anything to do with my Nvidia gpu.

Now, when I boot the computer, it gives me the option to boot to Ubuntu or Debian. If I choose Ubuntu, it boots to Ubuntu just fine. If I choose Debian, it boots ...

Re: package installation problems

Ok. I think I am on to something. I removed every Nvidia driver in aptitude. I was then able to install nvidia-detect.

Re: package installation problems

sudo apt-get install nvidia-detect I do not have a GUI. That is the overarching problem that I am trying to solve. I upgraded to Buster and now all I have is the command line. I think it has something to do with my Nvidia graphics card since I had the same problem when I upgraded to Stretch a few ye...

Re: How to read data stream on a specific hardware pin?

That sounds like something that might be done with a Raspberry Pi since you can connect i/o pins. You might be able to have a pin directed to the Pi, read on the Pi, and then output from the Pi on a different pin connected to the final destination. I am not sure if that will mess up timings though. ...

Should the motherboard be able to read an unformatted SSD right out of the box? If so, then I think I have a motherboard issue. That turned out to be the case. I was thinking about this: There is some other things you can try as well:""Can my computer support an SSD? updated 01/11/2011&qu...
