Re: [Solved] Install VirtualBox or Virt-Manager
I wouldn't know if laptops default to disabled Whether or not virtualization is enabled is due to the originally installed operating system, not just board capability, i/e Windows 10 Home would have been disabled by default. Also, though nobody seems to like to discuss it, gnome-boxes is the easies...

Re: [Off-Topic] Help wanted: Writing a beginner's book to Debian
I purchased the full OS boxed CD set for Jessie and it came with a decent installation manual which I referenced a time or two at first but then discovered the online documentation for Debian was more detailed. The same with Suse Enterprise though in that case the manual was very handy and the onlin...

Re: "Invisible" dirs on Samba share
Not sure if I'm reading your question correctly. Are you asking why directories created in Linux are not showing up inside your "shared" named directory in Windows? In my experience that would be the default behaviour for Windows 10 Samba connections, i/e only one directory can be passed a...

Re: [Discussion] What change, if implemented, would cause you to leave Debian?
For the record, I'm liking systemd Yep me too. Makes certain things quite handy. Forced move to wayland (at least as long as it lacks feature parity, particularly network support) Not quite sure what you mean about network support. Most issues can be solved with very short scripts for backends and ...

Re: [O/S] HDD suddenly takes long time to mount
varied startup times of smr disk depend on the pattern of activity before the last shut down Very much true of SMR drives. They always will require reorganizing time after large writes, but it's that tradeoff that allows for faster write time on big disks running NTFS. It is important to remember t...

It's an unneeded feature anyway. Just make your search engine of choice your home page and new tab page in the settings. Both DDG and STRTPG allow you to personalize settings with a URL.

Turbo VNC has no sound coded in connection handler for sound service.
https://github.com/TurboVNC/turbovnc/issues/178
High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connection could be your issue. It's built to connect for high quality audio then video. Not sure how you're setup or why.

Re: Debian 12.4 | No ethernet detected
If you have another spare running computer plug an ethernet cable from it into the laptop port, then boot the lap. It should pick up a hot connection on the card as you have network boot enabled in the BIOS. If it shows up then shut it down and disable network boot to see if card then shows up.

Re: Security issue with WIFI being displayed
This issue does not exist on windows LOL. If you have a decent enough spare Linux computer you can extract anything on a Windows system. Anything. Apple's is insecure in a different way through the user cloud connection. Itunes is a great hacking tool. I don't think so without restricting the user ...

Since screenshots are correct it is likely this problem especially if connecting vga to pci added adapter. The weight sometimes separates the adapter.Did you check the cable (what type ?) connecting the PC to the display ?
