Anyone know how to get a webcam + motion up and running? I have motion install and the web cam is plugged in, but it does not light up. Please hlep.

Yes, gparted is giving me the same info. I have been able to retrieve all my files using a friends Windows PC plus some software call PC Inspector. Is there no software for Linux which can extract files the way PC Inspector can for Windows?

You have to mount the partitions, not the whole device, so the command should look like this: pmount /dev/sda1 for the first partition or sdaX for the others, where X is the partition number. For some reason, I am unable to mount my USB stick. Normally it mounts automatically when I plug it in. But now it will not mount. What can I do to retrieve my files?

I have just install prism in Iceweasel which seems to work and creates links on the desktop as required, but those links are not clickable. Why am I not able to launch prism by clicking the new links created on the desktop?

Got it working. Apparently Debian blocks all network connections by default. So I first enabled network connections, then gave my client machine rights to access the database. To enable networking, you have to comment out the bind-address line in the file /etc/mysql/my.cnf then restart mysql /etc/in...

It's a 100% private network with no access to the outside world, and the outsideworld has no access to it either. So there are no gateway/routers. Just desktop pcs and servers connrcted via switches. Will it be the mysql server with needs to allow access to itself?
