I have created several vm's with gnome-boxes. Then I used the information from this website to use virt-manager to run/change the vm:

Search the web to get information about how to get the most out of virt-manager.

Re: Perfering an old stable version of Debian.
I was going to wait for the first point release of Buster before installing/upgrading. I lasted a week before I couldn't stand it any longer, and decided to install Buster on my laptop. I have been very pleased with the things that the developers put in Buster. I have had only operator errors on the...

What does inxi -G show for your graphic device and drivers?
I use the nouveau driver with my NVIDIA GF117M on Debian 9.9 with LXDE desktop.

Re: Lxde Firewall
I'm running 9.9 (stretch) with the LXDE desktop and use ufw (gufw) firewall. I set the rule to allow nodes on my local network to communicate with my machine: [ allow in 192.168.1.0/24 ] I want any computer on my local network to be able to talk with any other computer. So far I haven't had any issu...

Re: upgrade to Buster the moment its launched?
I’ll wait to install to give Buster some maturity time. I have Stretch running with everything I currently need and use. But I’ll try to keep up to date on Buster advances and improvements.

Re: Debian 9 GNOME touchpad not working
I have found other options to use with the xinput command:
Where <device> is device number you found from "xinput" command. Now on my msi laptop I have two ways to disable the Touchpad:
Code: Select all
xinput disable <device>
xinput enable <device>

Re: Debian 9 GNOME touchpad not working
I know it has been a long time, but maybe what I found will help you and others. I couldn’t get the touchpad on my msi laptop to stop interfering with my typing on the keyboard. I tried looking up on Google “debian disable touchpad”, but couldn’t get any of the suggestions to work. One suggestions d...

Re: Debian 9 xfce panel problems.
I'm not running xfce at the moment, I'm running lxde. But I think panel settings are similar. Right click on the your panel, and open Panel Settings. On the Appearance tab look to see your setting for the Background selects System theme or a color for the background. You might have to change your th...

Re: What's your desktop environment of choice?
If you don't like something, you can change it. That's why you use Linux, isn't it? I have some old hardware and some new. But I like LXDE on both. I keep my interfaces the same as best that I can. I try to keep all of the systems up to date. It make it easier on me to have the same look across all ...

Re: Looking to install Debian with lxde
I installed LXDE on my Debian 9.3, 32-bit older Pentium. It works great. I copied the iso to a USB drive using the dd command: dd if=~/Downloads/debian9.1-i386.iso of=/dev/sdf bs=4MB; sync You'll have to change the input filename for your downloaded iso, and output filename for your USB port (mine i...

Re: Insecure login via Firefox
I use Chromium because Firefox refuses secure connections to many websites. I could not find an option in the Firefox preferences that would perform the secure connection for every website I wanted to visit. Many sites were viewed in the past with Chromium in a secure fashion. Then I found the follo...

Re: [solved] Questions about deja-dup
Here is a website that might help you: http://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/DejaDup/HowItWorks I see I was wrong to suggest looking at crontab for the scheduling. Deja-dup uses its own monitor routine. You might try to create a backup of one of your directories (your Documents directory, for example), and sav...

I was running Jessie and installed Stretch when 9.1 became available. I tried 9.0, but had many installation issues and couldn't get it to run. I tried the Gnome and Cinnamon desktops on my dual core Intel Pentium D x86-64, but they over powered my processor. I re-installed Debian 9.1 for the i386 s...

Then left click on Overview. My current deja-dup Overview display shows: Last ...

Re: install dropbox on jessie
You can download dropbox with synaptic. (If you haven't installed synaptic, please look up how to install packages on Debian.) You will need to provide your root, or sudo, password to run synaptic. In the synaptic window, click on Search, enter dropbox in the search window. It will list nautilus-dro...
