Re: Strange anomaly during boot
keep formatting, first smash it with a hammer though... Uh, it sounds like remnants from video memory showing the initial boot screen of your system. Actually, I think you may have something there. I had checked whether it was the quiet boot crap before, but I didn't shutdown after disabling it, wh...

Re: Strange anomaly during boot
I highly dought it has anything to do with the recovery partition. Most likely this is simply a boot logo for your video card. You have already said that you have formatted your drive so this is the only option left that makes any sence. This is not unusual. Why would it only mention lenovo and tel...

Re: Strange anomaly during boot
does this show up before or after grub? do you see the kernel start to load beforehand? if so, it's highly unlikely that it has anything to do with a recovery partition. It appears just before the GDM screen, as I said in my first post, even with that pre-GRUB Lenovo quiet boot image disabled. My p...

Yeah, that's what I thought at first, but the text at the bottom is different, plus when I disable quiet boot in BIOS the anomaly still appears befor...

Strange anomaly during boot
My notebook is a Lenovo 3000 N500, with Debian 5 installed only - no Windows. However, this notebook previously had Vista installed and had a Lenovo rescue partition, both deleted, formatted, etc. Anyway, just before the GDM screen appears, a distorted image is shown for a second containing the word...

Re: New myspace music player crashes firefox..
so does it work for you? or freeze? Pick your favourite band, and go to their myspace page. Eg search google for "the mess hall" and the myspace page is second. I'll try swiftfox later It works for me, but I'm using a 32-bit Debian Squeeze build.

Re: New myspace music player crashes firefox..
found a 64bit alpha version on the adobe website which seems to run, and freeze like that previous one! anyone else experience this? I'm a bit stumped. If you had conflicting packages installed you would have issues elsewhere, so my suggestion is to try Swiftfox. If you download the Tar archive you...

Re: New myspace music player crashes firefox..
Are you running a 32-bit or 64-bit OS? Anyway, try disabling your FF extensions and see if you experience the same behaviour. Also, I've noticed perfomance improvements when Flash Player is installed manually, so purge flashplugin-nonfree completely and try the manual method.

Re: Welcome Back! (again)
Though, the most annying thing with the default phpbb3-theme is that the username and avatars and such is on the right side of the posts. It just feels unnatural. :P Yeah, tis a bit weird. Plus the ''Joined'' part now states the full date and even the exact time someone joined the forums - which is...

Thanks again for getting the forum up and running. I've put a curse on the spammer scum, so by now his urethra will have closed up completely. That'll learn him.

If you have a look around in the gNewSense forum you will find at least one post saying Debian enslaves its users, ... You may be right here, I'm not willing to peruse the gNewSense forums as their agenda seems to focus more on the adoption of Free Software, rather than the production of it. ... bu...

I am very thankful for the very fact that, Debian is based on 100% free software. By free, I mean, software that one can use without paying anything, obviously apart from respect for all those who contribute with their time and expertise. I am really very thankful for all the experts whose generosi...

Sorry I just don't get it. You are using Debian GNU/Linux. If it's so distasteful why bother. Me neither. A computer is just a tool. Just use what works for you and let others do the same. All this GNU bashing is very immature. It's far from immature, we are just debating minor details. It just ann...
