Re: Unable to boot installation media in UEFI mode

I think you might need to have disabled Secure Boot first of all for this to work. Right. The original bootx64.efi is actually shimx64.efi, which provides compatibility with the secure boot. Mount the partition on which the iso file resides (in my case this was sdc2, but this will differ for differ...

incorrect magic number ELF independant of architecture Weird. It looks like if GRUB modules are corrupted, either on disk or when read through the BIOS. It may be a BIOS or hardware issue. Did you try to boot that disk on another computer ? Did you try to install with a small (500 MB) /boot partiti...

Re: Bullseye server "out of range" - solved -

Sometimes people do pointless things and think that helped solving their problem. But it did not. I tried to boot with recovery option So at least you could see the GRUB menu. tried to change some boot option, with no result. What boot options ? "adduser -normal user created during installation...

I dont know what I am being warned about I warned you that the advice I gave in my first post may not apply to this distribution, so don't complain if you follow them and don't get the expected result. The installer won't boot or won't see the internal drive ?
I fail to see how the SATA mode would impact the boot from USB.

Re: Touchpad stucked

There is no such thing as a "normal touchpad". Integrated devices may have an internal USB connection. This is rather common among integrated SD card readers, wireless or bluetooth adapters.

Right, but there is no need to log in as root. Besides, the display manager may not allow to log in as root. I suspect the OP does not even know how to switch to a text console.

Re: can't use chown with exfat!

Clearly exfat is working different , with vfat or ntfs you dont have these issues It depends how you mount the volume. ntfs has a different default value for umask/fmask/dmask (0000 - cf. man ntfs-3g) but fat has the same default value as exfat (current process umask - cf. man mount). Default umask...

Re: can't use chown with exfat!

Mount permission has nothing to do with write permission.

Code: Select all

mount -t exfat -o uid=xxx,gid=xxx,umask=xxx /dev/xxx /xxx

Re: can't use chown with exfat!

Permissions on exFAT, FAT or NTFS are defined at mount time with mount options.
if using the exfat-fuse driver :

Code: Select all

man mount.exfat-fuse
if using the exfat kernel driver, I cannot find any man page, hopefully options are the same.

[Edit] : command corrected

They use "ls -t" as sorting rule, and it's from install. Is working also. -t sorts by file (build) date. It may not work if you have kernels from multiple repositories, e.g. oldstable, stable, stable-backports, testing... or build your own kernels from various versions in various order. T...

That does not make sense. It cannot be both at the same time.

Did you boot the installer and install GRUB in EFI or BIOS/legacy mode ?

Of course it is. At least before the kernel was upgraded. The journal entry is dated back to last month.
