Opinion: Reviewing systemd-free distros
So, we've heard the news about the possible replacement of sudo in favor of something in systemd. Does it bother me? More on this in a bit. However... My personal thoughts on the recent xz compromise and how it and my thoughts on how they relate to systemd are as follow; <Conspiricy> I personally th...

Re: Relationship between this forum and Debian User Mailing List
It's really a preference. I used to only do mailing lists (which included having a copy coming to my inbox). And that suited me just fine. Since then, I subscribe to the security mailing list and and keep to the forums for other things, compliments the Debian experience rather well. IMHO, there isn'...

Re: Has anyone replaced (or added) systemd-boot over grub
Systemd, no matter what you think of it, too much of anything is never a good thing. IMHO, the more it's fingers are entwined in Linux (in general) the more Linux (as we know it, including userland) becomes less a Linux. A few years ago, someone I followed, jokingly mentioned (I'm paraphrasing) felt...

Re: Relationship between this forum and Debian User Mailing List
The forum is recognized by Debian (as are the mailing lists) however, the posts in the mailing lists and forums are not synchronized.

Re: [Software] LibreOffice 7.4 is EOL
From what I can make out - the 24.x series is more of a beta, or think of it as either a Testing or Unstable (like Debian) Where the 7.x series is considered their version of Stable. So I would assume backports would be probably be either the newer 7.x line or possibly something from the 24.x line. ...

You could always have a look at backports

Are there responses to the post? I think that if there are, it wont be removed

Re: [Software] GPG keeps private key despite deleting it
I think (and very well could be wrong) all you really need to do is revoke the key and create a new key-pair.

Re: [Hardware] guys need your help
If you want reasonable (?) assurance that drivers will either work ar at least be available, and you want more of an out-of-the-box experience (if it were me) I would opt for either Mint Linux or vanilla Ubuntu (YMMV) However, I have spend a good number of years in the financial market - I have neve...

If asking you to present data that backs up some of the claims you have made is harassing you, that says quite a bit about you in general.

You continue to dance around presenting actual data backing your claims. Simply asking someone to simply trust you and do your own research, is NOT backing your claims in any way.

Re: How I Built The Hyper^Linux Kernel With Debian Bullseye 11.9
You seem to be making a lot of claims about things that seem to fly in the face of what is normal and acceptable yet you never back your claims up with any examples, benchmarks, or process. Nothing. How can anyone take you seriously? It's always easy to say things like, it failed me before, or, well...

Post your benchmarks on how it compares to a standard kernel and others.

It's not really a tutorial, it's really just my personal journal going over every aspect of my base installation that I decided to share here as a "guide" Forums, in general - are not to be treated as a personal journal. A link stating what you did can be viewed at such and such link (bar...

This may give you a hint.
Additionally, if the dependencies (gnucobol3) were installed, then it appears the binary is located /usr/bin/cobc and/or /usr/bin/cobcrun
