I logged into the forums for the first time in quite a while, and realized that I had posted to this same thread five years ago in this post ! I'm still using Debian, and my entire Linux journey has basically been Ubuntu 8.10 --> 16.04, and then Debian 8 --> 12. :D https://i.imgur.com/W5UM0do.png

Not sure if this will help, but I had a similar issue with my AirPods not connecting, and discovered it was an issue with BlueZ not having the non-free AAC codec. MATE desktop, Numix theme and Numix icons on my home machine. Luckily, I've been able to run Debian at work, as well.
