Re: [Software] Evolution Warnings/Erros - Should I be concerned

This is a bit of a fail in the installation process.
Just create the folders in the locations mentioned in the errors and they will go away.
I get the Glib error - just ignore it.

Re: [Testing - Trixie] Evolution 3.50.3-1 address book is read only

OK. I suggest that you delete the Evolution folders in ~/.cache ~/.config and ~/.local Now, I do not know if you are using the gnome-accounts-online app for storing your accounts info. If you are then remove your mail account - I'm guessing gmail. I hope you are actually using a normal password logi...

Re: [Testing - Trixie] Evolution 3.50.3-1 address book is read only

The address book is in ~/.local/share/evolution/addressbook/system/contacts.db That means it is in /home/glenn/.local/share/evolution/addressbook/system/contacts.db The entries in ~/.config/evolution/..... tell evolution about itself, the DATA is in ~/.local/....... as previously stated. Run evolut...

Re: [Testing - Trixie] Evolution 3.50.3-1 address book is read only

~/.local/share/evolution/addressbook/system/contacts.db You might be able to force this to work by creating an empty text file with the above name and location. Evolution doesn't seem to be very good at creating its own environment - have to manually create ~/.local/share/evolution/preview-plugins i...

Re: Systemd hanging on last part of shutdown requiring power button press.

As near as I can tell from this refrence, https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/15004 this is a result of the lvm layout you have. It seems that root / cannot be detached as it is set at the moment. Just puzzled why you have boot and boot-efi? TBH I would just bin the lot and start again with a ...

Re: Evolution filter doesn't get carried out

From your description I guess that you are trying to filter the email so that any incoming email that contains a specific address other than your own in any of those fields will be filtered. I have just done a quick test with cc and recipients and it all works as expected. You cannot test for bcc on...

Re: Can't register for forum using Gmail account

Gmail requires either SPF or DKIM for low-volume senders, and both + DMARC for higher volume. This has been "turned on" relatively recently, so maybe this is the issue. I don't have any e-mails from forums.debian.net at hand, except for the "welcome" e-mail from 2014, which had ...

Re: Can't register for forum using Gmail account

@bin Have you been receiving any forum emails in gmail such as post reply notifications? Not in gmail. After my last post I swapped my address over to hotmail account - which resulted in my being dumped out of the forum and waiting for a new activation email. I thought that hadn't arrived but it di...

Re: Can't register for forum using Gmail account

This is interesting - my forum login is normally set to remember me, but last week I guess the cookie had expired or whatever and it wanted my login again. Re: Completed Migration to Debian 12

Softmaker FreeOffice doesn't do tables and other important stuff which it sounds like OP needs. The paid version is the better way to go and so far I have not found an MS Office doc that it won't load and work with. Likewise Softmaker FlexiPDF is excellent for PDF editing. Again it's a paid for appl...

Re: [Software] Poor font resolution Windows app with Wine

You do not need winetricks to run winecfg - just run it from terminal.

Nvidia G205M used the 340.xx nvidia driver which I understand is not supported in Bookworm - stick with the nouveau driver.

Mikrotik routers have Webfig - browser based access to the router. Does that not work?

Re: [Software] Poor font resolution Windows app with Wine

A lot depends on the program itself as to how it is going to look. Make sure you have installed fonts-wine package You can configure some elements of the fonts in wine programs such as menus via winecfg If you go to Desktop Integration>Items and scroll down the list you'll see some that allow you to...

Re: libreoffice write zone

It sounds like you want the screen to scroll while you type, keeping the line you are typing in one place. A quick search reveals a number of questions about this but there does not seem to be an answer Libreoffice itself. The only way I found to do it is to resize the application window to letter b...
