[Software] which kernel flavor for Music

I have been a long time Debian user and also do some music recording with Konfyt, RoseGarden, Qsynth, Hydrogen, Shotcut etc., Which kernel is best for this purpose? I use the default kernel and notice occasional stutter, jumps, skips while playing fast notes on MIDI devices and reproducing the sound...

Re: [Software] Firefox forgets google logins after update

Hello. I don't know of this is an "issue". I think this might be normal procedure as this is exactly how my computer works. An uneducated guess: When you head to Google or Gmail, the server checks the cookie for an access token. The browser connects to the sever and compares identifies bu...

[Software] Firefox forgets google logins after update

Everytime firefox gets an update in debian (bookworm) it forgets my google user logins. I have to go through the two step google login verification for it to remember my user account again.

anyone else face this issue? is there a fix for this?

Re: building lxqt 1.1 debian packages

yes would be a lot easier to have latest version of lxqt in the repo. but these don't seem to be maintained.

Re: yamaha psr keyboard USB port connection

you don't mount midi device as a disk. If you have connected the midi interface correctly, "aconnect -i" should show the keyboard device. Then there are many ways to capture the midi key sequence. The following wiki could help https://mclarenlabs.com/blog/2018/07/03/linux-midi-cheatsheet/ ...

Re: Realtek Network Adapter

I have installed debian 5.4 on an old 32 bit pc. The network adapter does not work (Realtek) I assume because the drivers are missing in the installation package. I downloaded the drivers from the internet ( https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/firmware-realtek ) but I don't know where to save them...

Re: building lxqt 1.1 debian packages

thanks for the link. Now, i can have lxqt1.1 on my debian system without having to compile it myself.

It looks like they have left out the lxqt third party apps (https://github.com/lxqt/lxqt/wiki/Third-party-apps). I don't see them in this git repo.

Re: building lxqt 1.1 debian packages

debian repo has lxqt version 0.16 After that, lxqt released version 0.17, 1.0 and now 1.1 these are not in debian repo. From the wiki, https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/LXQtPackagingTeam, the "contact us" link points to a non-existing page https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-lxqt/ So, it do...

building lxqt 1.1 debian packages

i noticed that the lxqt packages in debian repo (both unstable and testing) are very old. So, i followed this wiki https://github.com/lxqt/lxqt/wiki/Building-from-source and built lxqt 1.1 from source. I'm running lxqt 1.1 on with debian testing as of now. (attaching a screenshot) I only found instr...

Re: lxqt packages for debian

hi, don't know if you actually read my post before replying. lxqt1.0 packages are not in unstable as well.
Dev contacts from https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/LXQtPackagingTeam also seem obsolete. Hence i was wondering if lxqt packages would be updated at all....

lxqt packages for debian

It looks like the lxqt packages are bit outdated in debian repo (testing and unstable). lxqt released 1.0 sometime ago and are planning 1.1 release in april 2022. But debian repo still has a old 0.16 version. Some of the links on https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/LXQtPackagingTeam point to non-existing ...

xorg startup failure

i'm facing the same xserver startup failure again with 2.6.28 kernel too. I also want to mention that I have used ubuntu previously (starting from 7.04, 7.10, 8.04 and 8.10) on this very machine and never had a problem. Wonder how come this happens only on debian. xorg startup failure

thanks a lot, Quantum for your reply. I use debian lenny.

As you suggested, I installed latest kernel (2.6.28) from unstable repo. Let me see how X behaves with the new driver and get back to you in a day or two.

x problem

You have a video driver problem, not one with X. Why is vgahd loading? Have you installed the latest Intel driver? Is your hardware supported by it? Let's see xorg.conf. Thanks for your reply, Quantum. i don't know why vgahd is loading. I have a plain vanilla debian install. I've installed debian m...

xorg error

this problem has nearly made debian on my system totally unusable (though I like debian very much). I have to move to some other distro until this is fixed.

Are there updated (or even newer versions of) xorg packages for debian available?
